According to the case file, at the end of December 2024, Sang went to a voluntary drug rehabilitation facility in Hoa Phu commune (Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak) for drug rehabilitation. Here, Sang was arranged to stay in the same room with Mr. QTL (1990, residing in Hoa Thang commune, Buon Ma Thuot city). On the afternoon of January 3, because he craved alcohol, Sang went to the kitchen area of the rehabilitation facility to get a bottle of alcohol about 200ml, mixed it with water and drank it. When it was time for dinner, Sang saw Mr. L. looking at him, so Sang went into the bedroom. However, Sang could not sleep and thought that Mr. L. would harm him, so he went down to the kitchen area, took a knife and stabbed Mr. L. in the chest, causing the victim to die shortly after.
