YOUNG LEADER IN DEVELOPING community tourism model

Graduated with a degree in business from a university in Ho Chi Minh City, with wide open job opportunities, Mr. Phuong still decided to return to his hometown to start a business, he implemented a community tourism model.

"Ho Chi Minh City is a good environment for studying and training. Ever since high school, I have cherished the desire to study in the city and then return to contribute to my hometown. Of course there will be difficulties, but the important thing is how you face and overcome them," he shared.

As the head of Vinh Quang 1 village, Mr. Phuong not only fulfilled his management duties well, but also promoted his leadership role in socio -economic development in the locality. Realizing the rich natural potential and pristine landscape of the Con Chim - Thi Nai lagoon area, he proactively connected with the people to implement a community tourism model. A bold but passionate step, with the goal of helping people have a more sustainable livelihood right on their homeland.

In 2022, the Con Chim Phuoc Son Ecotour ecotourism model was officially born, under the connection of Mr. Phuong. Without investing in a flashy or imposing manner from the outside, he chose a community-based approach: local people directly participate in serving tourists, from ferrying, guiding tours to cooking and preparing typical rustic dishes. Mr. Phuong plays the role of a "bridge" between tourists and this pristine, peaceful land.

"At first, the model encountered many difficulties, especially in attracting visitors. Local people always want to preserve the pristine features of Con Chim. As a tourist, I also want to experience the true local spirit. Therefore, doing community tourism is the most suitable direction," said Mr. Phuong.

After only 2 years of operation, by 2024, the Con Chim Phuoc Son Ecotour model had welcomed more than 1,000 visitors. It is worth noting that the model does not stop at growth numbers, but also creates stable jobs for about 20 local workers - those who previously mainly lived on small-scale fishing or freelance work. Income from tourism activities helps significantly improve the lives of many households in the village.

"I just hope to contribute a small part so that my hometown people no longer have to leave their homeland, but can legitimately get rich on the land left by their ancestors," Mr. Phuong expressed.

CREATE JOBS FOR MORE THAN 100 YOUNG WORKERS

Not only in the tourism sector, Mr. Phuong also participated in bidding and implementing many civil construction projects in the locality, making an important contribution to the development of rural infrastructure. Through these projects, he created regular jobs for more than 100 local workers, most of whom were young people who had left their hometowns to earn a living, but now can feel secure in their hometowns.

As village chief, Mr. Phuong also actively cooperates with the commune government and organizations to organize propaganda sessions to raise awareness of environmental protection and preserve village identity. He regularly participates in meetings to listen to people's opinions, thereby proposing many practical solutions.

As a leading example in social work, in 2021, Mr. Phuong was honored to receive a certificate of merit from the Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee for his outstanding achievements in disseminating andeducating the law in the province, a quiet job but bringing great value in raising awareness and building a civilized lifestyle.

In addition to doing business, Mr. Phuong is also a young volunteer who devotes himself to the community.

Mr. Phuong is also an active volunteer in charity activities. Regardless of the weather, he and other organizations regularly mobilize, donate and organize visits and gifts for people in remote areas, especially in the mountainous district of Vinh Thanh. Every year, he also organizes cooking sessions and gives free meals to poor patients at Tuy Phuoc District Medical Center.

"Mr. Phuong is a typical model of the new-age youth - daring to think, daring to do. What he does not only brings economic efficiency, but also preserves the cultural and natural values of his homeland. Mr. Phuong has inspired many young people in the locality," commented Mr. Tran Minh Truong, Secretary of the Phuoc Son Commune Youth Union.
