Veterans shake hands and salute each soldier on duty A80

More than a day after 1,600 officers and soldiers took the train from the south to participate in the parade and marching mission in the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and National Day September 2 (mission A80) arrived in Hanoi , the enthusiasm of the capital's people is still imprinted in the minds of many people.

Images of people and young volunteers lining up at Hanoi station in hot weather to welcome the A80 task force continuously appeared in the media, as an affirmation of the hospitality of the capital's people.

In particular, the image of a veteran in a blue uniform, with silver hair, standing and saluting according to orders, shaking hands with young men and women moved many people. That was Major Nguyen Anh Dung (75 years old, former Head of the vehicle team of unit V34 of the General Department of Logistics, now the General Department of Logistics - Engineering, Ministry of National Defense ).

Mr. Dung stood at the end of the procession, where the soldiers were preparing to board the car. As the soldiers passed by, he extended his hand in greeting, and in response to his sentiments, many soldiers bowed and shook the old soldier’s hand.

The 75-year-old veteran said that he joined the army in 1969 at the age of 19. After joining the army, he participated in battles in the Route 9 - Southern Laos campaign in 1971. After the campaign, he became a driver at the General Department of Logistics and retired in 1995.

Mr. Dung hopes that the young generation of the army will continue to train, constantly study, and improve their political qualities to contribute to building and protecting the Fatherland.

"The days when we went to war were very difficult and arduous, you cannot imagine. Today, the country has been unified for 50 years, the army has grown strong. Witnessing these images, I am very moved.

I see these images exuding the spirit of solidarity and unity of the entire nation towards the revolutionary cause.

I hope that the young generation of the army will continue to train, constantly study, improve their political qualities, and contribute to building and defending the Fatherland in the era of national growth," said Mr. Dung.
