Using the second team, Vietnam women's volleyball team still won overwhelmingly on the opening day of the AVC Nations Cup.

The Vietnamese women's volleyball team had a favorable opening day at the AVC Challenge Cup 2025 when they defeated Hong Kong with a score of 3-0.

At the AVC Challenge Cup (the predecessor of the AVC Nations Cup) last year, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team easily defeated Hong Kong 3-0.

With home field advantage and being rated higher, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet confidently arranged the second team. Stars such as Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Bich Tuyen, Lam Oanh, Khanh Dang, Nguyen Thi Trinh… were all put on the bench.

Instead, names including Nhu Quynh, Kieu Trinh, Pham Thi Hien, Bich Thuy, Nguyen Thi Uyen, Kim Thoa and libero Luu Thi Ly Ly were given the opportunity.

In the early scores, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team was somewhat confused. They were even caught making a silly positional mistake. Therefore, Hong Kong unexpectedly took a 2-0 lead.

But this did not affect too much when the level of the two teams was significantly different. The Vietnamese girls quickly regained control of the game, coordinated well and attacked strongly. From there, they gradually created a large gap of 10-4, 18-10...

At the end of the first game, Bich Tuyen was sent onto the field to warm up. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team won this game with a difference of 25-15.

In game 2, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet made a few adjustments but overall it was still not the main lineup. The home team continued to have a shaky start but soon regained control of the game.

As the gap with the opponent grew larger, captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy entered the field and left behind some classy plays.

From the first step to the attack, VTV Binh Dien Long An 's main attacker did everything neatly. Thanks to that, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team continued to win easily 25-13.

Game 3 continued to witness the dominance of coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team, when they won 25-10 to quickly end the match with a score of 3-0.

Also on June 7, Kazakhstan beat New Zealand, Chinese Taipei beat Australia and the Philippines defeated Mongolia with the same score of 3-0.

The biggest surprise came when Iran came from behind to beat Indonesia 3-2 despite being underestimated.
