The overwhelming strength of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team
Tonight (June 7), the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, the reigning champions of the AVC Nations Cup, will begin their journey to defend their title. Facing a weaker opponent in the first match of Group A, Hong Kong, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet "kept" key players such as Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, and Doan Thi Lam Oanh out. The spikers in the B team, Nguyen Thi Uyen, Pham Thi Hien, and Tran Thi Bich Thuy, will be on the field from the start.

Competing with not the strongest lineup, the Vietnamese girls still dominated the Hong Kong team. Bich Thuy and Pham Thi Hien played impressively in game 1, helping the Vietnamese women's volleyball team win 25/16.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet continued to use the changes to test the lineup in the second half when rookie Nguyen Thi Phuong was given a chance. In the second half, captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy was also sent onto the field amid cheers from the fans. There were still no surprises from the Hong Kong team and the Vietnamese women's volleyball team won 25/13 to raise the score to 2-0.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet gave the opportunity to play for all 14 players in the match against Hong Kong (China) team.

In game 3, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team sent all the remaining players onto the field, including key players Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, Doan Thi Lam Oanh, Le Thanh Thuy, and Nguyen Thi Trinh. Without having to play at their best, Bich Tuyen and her teammates still won by a margin of 25/10.
The resounding victory in the opening match of the AVC Nations Cup 2025 helped the Vietnamese women's volleyball team and the Taiwanese team (who beat Australia 3-0) share the top spot in Group A. At 8 p.m. tomorrow, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will play the second match, facing the Taiwanese team.
