22 products participating in the evaluation and classification of provincial OCOP in 2025

On the afternoon of June 26, the Lao Cai Provincial OCOP Product Evaluation and Classification Council held a conference to evaluate and classify provincial OCOP products in 2025.

Attending the conference were members of the Council and the Working Group assisting the Council in evaluating and classifying OCOP products of Lao Cai province; representatives of districts, owners of potential 4-star OCOP product production facilities and consulting units.

This time, the whole province has 22 products from 6 entities participating in the evaluation and classification of provincial-level OCOP products, including 17 newly evaluated products and 5 re-evaluated products.

Of which, Le Trung Thuc business household (Sa Pa town) has 7 food products processed from salmon and sturgeon; TraphacoSapa LLC has 5 products in the group of medicinal herbs and functional foods; Thanh Xuan Mountain Bee Development LLC (Bao Yen) has 5 products from honey; Dai Hung Tea LLC (Bao Yen) has 1 green tea product; Tay Bac Medicinal Herbs Processing LLC has 2 products from the root of the Chinese clematis plant; Hao Anh Cooperative (Lao Cai city) has 2 products of specialty rice Seng cu.

At the conference, the Council for evaluating and classifying OCOP products of Lao Cai province determined that most of the products clearly showed attention to food safety quality, origin of raw materials, packaging form, trade promotion activities, traceability and packaging, and labeling according to regulations; the product story was short, concise and had a unique message; aroused the potential and strengths of raw material areas and used local labor.

As a result, 21 products were evaluated by the Council with 73 points or more, qualifying for 4-star OCOP recognition. Among them, some outstanding products such as: Sa Pa salmon floss, Sa Pa smoked salmon, Thanh Xuan ginger honey, Sa Pa artichoke tea bags, Muong Vi Séng cu rice... have good quality, beautiful designs and have the potential to expand the market.

The results of this assessment clearly reflect the efforts to innovate and professionalize production and business of OCOP entities in the province. This is evidence that the OCOP Program is not simply a movement, but is gradually becoming an important driving force in rural economic development, enhancing the value of local specialties and expanding market access.

The entire dossier will be completed by the Provincial OCOP Product Evaluation and Classification Council and submitted to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration of granting 4-star OCOP certification for the products in 2025.
