The number of enterprises entering and re-entering the market in January 2025 was 33,447 enterprises.

According to data from the Department of Business Registration Management ( Ministry of Planning and Investment ), the brightest spot in the business registration situation in the first month of 2025 is the number of businesses returning to operation.

With 22,794 businesses returning, January this year could reach a record for this target.

In January 2024, the number of enterprises returning to operation was nearly 13,800; in January 2023, it was 15,067. This number also surpassed the record of 2022, which was 19,121 enterprises.

However, if calculating the number of newly established enterprises, January recorded a significant decrease compared to the same period in 2024, down 30.28%, with 10,653 enterprises. Newly registered enterprises were mainly concentrated in the Southeast (3,846 enterprises, accounting for 36.1%) and the Red River Delta (3,345 enterprises, accounting for 31.4%).

The registered capital of newly established enterprises is VND 94,065 billion, down 39.32% over the same period in 2024. The number of registered employees of newly established enterprises is 81,539, down 22.28% over the same period in 2024.

Thus, the total registered capital added to the economy in January 2025 reached VND 461,301 billion (up 55% over the same period in 2024). The average registered capital per enterprise reached VND 8.8 billion, lower than the same period in 2024 (VND 10.1 billion).

In January 2025, 58,321 enterprises withdrew from the market, 1.74 times more than the number of enterprises entering and re-entering the market. Of these, the majority of enterprises chose to temporarily suspend business operations in the short term (accounting for 90.5%).

The number of enterprises temporarily ceasing business in January 2025 was 52,807. Most of them were short-term enterprises, less than 5 years in operation with 20,893 enterprises (accounting for 39.6%); mainly concentrated in small scale (less than 10 billion VND) with 47,617 enterprises (accounting for 90.2%).

The number of enterprises waiting for dissolution procedures in January 2025 is 3,493, mainly concentrated in the capital scale of less than 10 billion VND with 3,003 enterprises (accounting for 85.97%).

Newly established enterprises by industry group:
+ Service industry group: 7,996 enterprises, accounting for 75.1% of the total number of newly established enterprises, down 30.4% over the same period in 2024.
+ Industry and construction group: 2,544 enterprises entered the market, accounting for 23.9% of the total number of newly established enterprises, down 29.6% over the same period in 2024.
+ Agriculture , forestry and fishery sector: 113 newly established enterprises, accounting for 1% of the total number of newly established enterprises, down 33.9% over the same period in 2024.
