On the afternoon of June 9, Tu Mo Rong district ( Kon Tum province) held a ceremony to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the district's establishment (2005-2025).
Established in 2005, Tu Mo Rong is a particularly disadvantaged mountainous district, with a low starting point in terms of economy , infrastructure and public services. After 20 years, Tu Mo Rong has made great strides in many areas.

To date, 100% of villages have access to the national grid, and roads have been expanded to most communes. The poverty rate has dropped to less than 30%. Per capita income has increased sharply, from 18 million VND/person/year to 47 million VND/person/year. District budget revenue has also increased significantly, from 40 billion VND to nearly 70 billion VND.

In particular, Tu Mo Rong has become a key medicinal area of the Central Highlands, with an area of over 3,000 hectares of Ngoc Linh ginseng and thousands of hectares of other precious medicinal plants. The district owns the largest Ngoc Linh ginseng garden in the world . This is the foundation for developing a tourism model to visit the Ngoc Linh ginseng national park, gradually affirming the brand of "ginseng capital" of Vietnam on the international map.
In agriculture, Tu Mo Rong is gradually forming a sustainable production chain under the forest canopy, linking cultivation with forest protection and developing eco-tourism. The Xo Dang people have owned precious Ngoc Linh ginseng gardens, helping them escape poverty and become rich.

Tu Mo Rong proactively promotes digital transformation, from tracing the origin of agricultural products, supporting farmers to sell products through e-commerce platforms, community wifi coverage, distance learning... The district also pioneers in applying AI and digital platforms to administrative management and education, aiming to improve the efficiency of serving people.

Chairman of Tu Mo Rong District People's Committee Vo Trung Manh emphasized: "Over the past 20 years, we have made continuous efforts to overcome difficulties, building a developed, unique and prestigious mountainous district. The road ahead will still have many challenges, but with the foundation that has been built, the district is confident in entering a new phase: sustainable development, leaving no one behind."

Mr. Vo Trung Manh said that according to the direction of restructuring the administrative units of Kon Tum province, Tu Mo Rong district will change its model, moving towards no longer having a district level, but only 4 key communes. This is a strategic step to streamline the apparatus, improve management efficiency and develop harmoniously and sustainably. On the basis of 20 years of creation and innovation, the district has had a strong change in development thinking, forming many effective economic models.

“The rearrangement of administrative boundaries will be an opportunity for us to focus more on strategic highlights, develop eco-tourism, and preserve the Xo Dang cultural identity associated with medicinal herb gardens. With the orientation of sustainable development and available potential, Tu Mo Rong will enter a new era, an era of rising up with the country with confidence and the ability to rise strongly,” said Mr. Vo Trung Manh.
At the ceremony, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented Decision 1656 of the Ministry on including the Folk Knowledge of Ngoc Linh Ginseng in Tu Mo Rong District and Dak Glei District, Kon Tum Province into the list of national intangible cultural heritage.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Tu Mo Rong district said that being recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage will enhance the value of Ngoc Linh ginseng, not only as a precious medicinal herb but also as a cultural resource, creating economic value and unique identity for the locality. This title also becomes an important foundation for local people to develop community tourism and eco-tourism, helping people increase their income, contributing to heritage conservation and forest protection.
