Exploiting the advantages of forest and lake ecotourism
In 2023, the Provincial People's Committee approved the Project on Ecotourism, Resorts and Entertainment of Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve, period 2021-2030, with the goal of exploiting and promoting the potential and advantages of natural resources, cultural resources, historical relics in the reserve on the basis of conservation, sustainable development and mobilizing all resources in society to protect, develop forests, conserve nature and develop tourism.
Currently, with 12 investors registered to invest in tourism projects in the Ecotourism Project, 11 investors are conducting forest planning surveys before officially implementing the project.
Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve has a total area of over 100 thousand hectares, of which over 30 thousand hectares is Tri An Lake. The reserve has 5 main ecosystems: evergreen closed broadleaf forest ecosystem, mixed bamboo forest with broadleaf trees, pure bamboo forest, grassland, shrubs and riverine and lake ecosystems. The reserve has a system of biodiversity resources of both plants and animals with thousands of rare species of animals and plants being conserved. Among them are species listed in the Red Book of Vietnam and the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
Provincial Party Committee member, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism LE THI NGOC LOAN said that Tri An Lake area is one of the destinations in the national tourism planning of the Government. The implementation of the Project to develop Tri An Lake tourism into a national tourism area is a key task of Dong Nai according to Dong Nai's tourism development plan for 2025.
Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve is also highly appreciated by scientists and tourists for its natural forest landscape, planted forest and specialty forest. In addition, this place has unique lake and waterfall landscapes such as Tri An Lake, Ba Hao Lake, Rang Waterfall... attracting investors and tourists. This is also a place to preserve cultural values, revolutionary historical relics such as: Southeast Region Party Committee, Southern Central Bureau Relics, Suoi Linh Tunnel, Choro Ethnic Village...
For many years, Tri An Lake and Ba Hao Lake have been a weekend relaxation destination for the family of Ms. Tran Nguyen Bao Han, a tourist from Tan Thoi Hiep Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. Ms. Han said that her family loves cycling through the forest in the early morning around Tri An Lake; rowing SUP on the lake in the cool afternoon and enjoying specialties such as dried kim fish, anchovies; crispy fried linh fish; catfish hotpot... "Every time I return to Tri An Lake on the weekend, my family feels like they are recharged before returning to Ho Chi Minh City. Tri An Lake is not far from where we live, only about an hour's drive. The cost is not too high but we get to enjoy the fresh natural space and the specialties. Those are the interesting things that Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve has always attracted my family to over the years" - Ms. Han shared.
Attractive opportunity for investors
With its diversity of nature as well as cultural and historical values, Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve currently exploits 9 tourism products such as: eco-tourism associated with forest resources; resort tourism, lake ecology; cultural tourism associated with revolutionary historical relics and ethnic minority community culture; sports and discovery tourism...
According to the planning of the Ecotourism Project in 2023, Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve has 51 tourist destinations in 5 planned areas to organize ecotourism, resort, entertainment and service activities with the ability to link by route, by theme, approach by tourism products and ecosystems. Regarding the planning of tourist routes, the reserve has 37 tourist routes, connecting destinations in the reserve.
According to the Decision approving the Outline and budget estimate for the Project to Adjust and Supplement the Ecotourism Project, the investor, Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve, will have to implement 8 contents. In particular, the issue that most investors are most concerned about is the loosening of regulations on construction of works in the project. Specifically, in the process of constructing works serving services in tourist areas, investors do not need to apply for a construction permit because it has been specifically regulated in the Ecotourism Project. This is one of the adjustments to create conditions for investors to shorten the project implementation time and reduce procedures during implementation.
Ms. Dinh Thi Lan Huong, Deputy Director of Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve, said that the reserve is adjusting the project implementation outline. On that basis, the reserve will submit the project to the Provincial People's Committee for re-approval. After receiving approval from the Provincial People's Committee, the reserve will continue to widely publicize the project to call for investment. With this adjustment, during the project implementation process, investors will be allowed to build works using environmentally friendly materials without having to apply for a separate construction permit for the project.
