Việt NamViệt Nam29/12/2023

On the morning of December 29, in Yen Hoa commune, Yen Mo District Agricultural Service Center coordinated with the district's Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the district's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the People's Committees of communes and towns in the district to organize the second cow handover ceremony for poor and near-poor households participating in projects under the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the period 2021-2025.

This time, the district has 95 poor and near-poor households receiving cows (each household receives 1 breeding cow). These are households that have been surveyed, selected and qualified to participate in Project 2 and Sub-project 1, Project 3 under the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction in 2023.

At the ceremony, representatives of 23 poor and near-poor households from Yen Hoa, Yen My, Khanh Thinh, Yen Hung and Yen Thanh communes drew lots for the numbered breeding cows. The remaining households were handed over directly by the Organizing Committee and local authorities at the stadiums of Yen Thang, Yen Dong and Yen Phong communes in the morning of the same day.

The donated cows are high-yielding, healthy crossbred cows and are guaranteed by the supplier for 21 days. Thus, in the whole year of 2023, Yen Mo district has supported 178 poor and near-poor households to receive breeding cows, equivalent to 178 cows, with a total cost of nearly 4 billion VND.

In recent times, along with poverty reduction policies such as housing support, tuition fee exemption, loan support, etc., Yen Mo district has actively implemented policies to support production development and diversify livelihoods for workers in poor households, near-poor households, households that have just escaped poverty within 36 months and people with disabilities (without stable livelihoods) to increase income, contributing to sustainable poverty reduction.

Thanks to that, people's lives have been increasingly improved, the poverty rate in the district has decreased sharply over the years. In 2021, the district still has 1,327 poor households (accounting for 3.36%) and 1,387 near-poor households (accounting for 3.51%). In 2022, the district still has 1,039 poor households (accounting for 2.61%) and 1,319 near-poor households (accounting for 3.32%).

The cow donation activity aims to create livelihoods for people in difficult circumstances to develop their economy , stabilize their lives, and escape poverty sustainably. Thereby contributing to improving income criteria, bringing Yen Mo district to soon meet the standards of an advanced new rural district in 2024.
