Peace of mind in new homes

Mrs. Dinh Thi Ba, in An Loi Tay village (Dai Nghia commune, Dai Loc), is the daughter of martyr Phan Thi Hai, who died in the resistance war against the US to save the country. Due to difficult circumstances, in recent years Mrs. Ba has lived in a house that is not yet sturdy and needs to be rebuilt to withstand storms and floods.

Upon receiving information about Mrs. Ba’s case from the local authorities, the Quang Nam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs investigated the situation and mobilized resources to support Mrs. Ba’s family with 60 million VND, helping to build a new house. From this initial funding, along with the help of the locality and neighbors, Mrs. Dinh Thi Ba’s house was completed after more than 3 months of construction.

On the day of handing over the new house, Mrs. Ba emotionally expressed: “I am very grateful for the help of the units and people so that I can have a new house. Due to difficult circumstances and old age, I did not dare to think that I would have a new house like this. Fortunately, I have the help and support from all levels.”

In village 1 (Tra Nu commune, Bac Tra My district), Mr. Tran Van Thanh's house has just been completely repaired to worship martyr Tran Thi Ut. Mr. Thanh is the martyr's nephew and takes care of the worship because the martyr had no children. The old house has been degraded for a long time, but his circumstances are too difficult for him to think about repairing the house.

When he received 30 million VND in support from the temporary housing program, Mr. Thanh worked day and night to repair his house with the help of his neighbors. According to Mr. Thanh, he used whatever was still usable in the old house to repair it, and the support money was only used to buy more cement, steel, and roofing sheets. The effort of his family and neighbors was mainly to help. However, the house after repair is still much more durable than the old house, no longer worrying about rain or wind.

Quang Nam Department of Agriculture and Environment said that in the process of eliminating temporary houses, housing for meritorious people must be completed before July 27, with a total of 353 houses. Many sectors and localities in the province have mobilized resources to carry out the work.

In particular, the armed forces and youth union members have "eaten, lived and worked together" with the people, especially those in difficult circumstances, single people, in remote and border areas, supporting people to build and repair houses.

As in Bac Tra My district, the District Military Command has actively supported with labor, helping households whose temporary houses were demolished to complete their houses early. Thanks to this active support, the progress of temporary house demolition in Bac Tra My has reached more than 90% (the total number of temporary houses that need to be demolished in 2025 is 595 houses).

Colonel Tran Van Cuong - Political Commissar of the Bac Tra My District Military Command said: “After determining that the families who needed to demolish their temporary houses were in real difficulty and lacked workers, the Bac Tra My District Military Command sent soldiers and local militia to support and help the families dismantle their old houses and transport materials to build new houses. We try to help people as much as possible so that they can live in sturdy, stable houses before the storm season.”
