[Maritime News] Wan Hai Lines invests $150 million to buy 48,000 containers

Taiwan’s Wan Hai Lines has committed to invest about $150 million to order a total of 48,000 containers, split between the two suppliers, according to DynaLiners. Specifically, the company has ordered an initial batch of 30,000 containers from CIMC, worth about $100 million, and a subsequent batch of 18,000 containers from Singamas, worth approximately $50 million.

This significant investment reflects Wan Hai’s continued efforts to expand its fleet amid growing demand for container capacity. The new containers are expected to enhance operational flexibility and support growth in global trade markets.

Industry analysts say the move is part of a broader trend in the shipping industry toward fleet modernization and capacity expansion, especially as shipping lines face increasingly complex supply chain challenges and growing trade volumes.
