Meat and meat product exports increase for third consecutive month

In May 2024, meat exports increased by 84.2% in volume and 52.8% in value compared to May 2023. This is the third consecutive month of increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Import and Export Department ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) cited data from the General Department of Customs, saying that in May 2024, meat export and meat products reached 2.52 thousand tons, worth 9.84 million USD, up 84.2% in volume and 52.8% in value compared to May 2023. This is the third consecutive month of increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Exports of meat and meat products are still very modest.

In the first 5 months of 2024, Vietnam exported nearly 9.74 thousand tons of meat and meat products, worth 41.34 million USD, up 40.4% in volume and 25.1% in value over the same period in 2023. Vietnam's meat and meat products are mainly exported to markets such as Hong Kong (China), Belgium, Laos, China, Malaysia, France, Canada, the United States, etc.

Of which, exports to the Hong Kong market (China) accounted for 33.8% of the country's total meat exports, with 854 tons, worth 5.47 million USD, up 23.4% in volume and 39.8% in value compared to May 2023.

In the first 5 months of 2024, Vietnam exported 4.31 thousand tons of meat and meat products to the Hong Kong market (China), worth 25.34 million USD, up 37.5% in volume and 28.2% in value over the same period in 2023.
