Removing temporary and dilapidated houses brings joy of "settling down and making a living"

With the drastic participation of the government and the cooperation of the community, up to now, thousands of houses in Thai Nguyen province have been newly built and repaired, bringing a more stable and safe life to the people. Through the implementation, Thai Nguyen province also sets the goal of implementing social security policies well, improving the quality of life for the people.

According to information from the Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses for the Poor in Thai Nguyen Province, up to now, the province has eliminated 91% of temporary and dilapidated houses and is striving to complete 100% of temporary and dilapidated houses that are eligible for completion before April 30. Also through the review, the whole province of Thai Nguyen has 1,498 temporary and dilapidated houses that are eligible for support. Of which, the number of houses receiving support for new construction is 913, the number of houses receiving support for repair is 585. Striving to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses that are eligible in the whole province before April 30 will help Thai Nguyen province achieve the province's plan, achieve the central government's plan 8 months ahead of schedule, and help people settle down and find jobs soon, contributing to ensuring social security and improving the quality of life for people in the province.

With high determination, in recent times, localities in the province have mobilized the participation of the entire political system and the community. A typical example is Phu Luong district, which is accelerating the progress of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, striving to complete the construction and repair of 261 temporary and dilapidated houses in the area by the end of March 2025. Up to now, the whole district has had 183 houses completed and put into use out of a total of 242 houses started, reaching 92.7%. Specifically, localities in the district have started construction of 198/217 houses for new housing construction; 44/44 houses for repair have been started, of which 43/44 houses have been completed and put into use.

In Phu Binh district, after screening, the whole district has 48 households in need of repairing or building new houses. Of which, 15 households need to build new houses, 33 households need to repair. Ms. Duong Thi Hue - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Phu Binh district said that in order to achieve the goal of accelerating the progress of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the district in 2025, the Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses at all levels has focused on directing, implementing screening, inspection, examination, and preparing records for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for households, and at the same time mobilizing forces to participate in the implementation of the program. In addition, the Steering Committee has also promoted propaganda through the information channels of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and mass organizations, through the activities of the organizations and received a very high consensus from the people in this activity.

Evaluating the effectiveness of the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the whole province, Mr. Duong Van Tien - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thai Nguyen province said that in order for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households to be implemented effectively, with quality and on schedule, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province suggested that families should consider this an opportunity, mobilize their own counterpart resources, and the cooperation of brothers and relatives to build solid houses to stabilize and improve their long-term lives with the spirit of "settling down and working". Relevant levels and sectors implement the project in a transparent, fair, public and democratic manner, based on the viewpoint of "People know, people discuss, people do, people check, people supervise, people benefit", demonstrating that this is a humane, compassionate and voluntary work, solving one of the urgent problems of housing for poor and near-poor households.

Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses is a major policy of the Party and State, contributing significantly to ensuring social security and improving the quality of people's lives. With the highest determination, this major policy has been implemented synchronously and effectively by the Party Committee and the government of Thai Nguyen province. From there, it has made an important contribution to sustainable poverty reduction and socio-economic development in the province.
