Building Da Nang into a key cultural industrial center of the country - Final article: Creating a new direction from strategic breakthroughs

Along with the issuance of the Project "Developing cultural industries in Da Nang city to 2030", the city is creating many new opportunities and motivations to promote the development of cultural industries, thereby contributing to the good implementation of Directive 30/CT-TTg dated August 29, 2024 of the Prime Minister on the development of cultural industries in Vietnam.

Application of advanced engineering technology

In order to create cultural products bearing the mark and identity of Da Nang, many units in the cultural sector have taken a new and bold direction in applying modern science and technology.

One of the cultural products that has been loved by the public in recent times is the musical “Tien Sa”. This is the first play to apply multi-dimensional stage technology in Da Nang. The show requires many artistic and technical elements, with many characters in many different roles participating in the performance to create a play with a coherent and consistent content.

Sharing about the musical dance performance “Tien Sa”, Meritorious Artist Quang Hao, Director of Trung Vuong Theater said that throughout the performance, the actors will approach the stage from many directions in the auditorium, not just appearing on the main stage, interacting directly with the audience to create a close connection and bring the audience an interesting experience.

“The combination of vivid lighting, climaxing music and diverse dance forms such as contemporary dance, ballet, and skillful circus makes each performance scene like a vivid painting, full of emotions. The symbols of Da Nang are almost vividly, creatively and realistically recreated such as Son Tra peninsula, heritage banyan tree, coastal fishing village, and cool flowers. This application brings a sense of vast space, helping the audience to see the artist from many angles...”, Meritorious Artist Quang Hao shared.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, Da Nang city organized the first screening of the 3D Mapping film with the theme “Da Nang Story”. The film depicts folk tales, legends and some typical historical events associated with the birth, development and rise to new heights of the city, while also depicting the soul and spirit of Da Nang people.

Along with the stories told, the film also has images and scenes with profound meanings for the audience to discover after watching, such as the Hoang Sa Islands scene, the legend of Lord Nguyen Hoang, the oath "Determined to die for the Fatherland", the battle of Hai Van Pass...

Mr. Huynh Dinh Quoc Thien, Director of Da Nang Museum, said that this is the first complete outdoor 3D Mapping film in Vietnam, different from 3D Mapping scenes in other programs and events. This is also the first time in Southeast Asia that the most advanced PT-RQ 50K projection system, equivalent to the projection system at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic opening ceremony and the Tokyo Night & Light program in 2024, has been put into use.

The unit also hopes that at Da Nang Museum - a project considered a new symbol of the city's culture, 3D Mapping films will continue to be shown; thereby promoting the development of culture and cinema, bringing attractive spiritual food as well as promoting the image of Da Nang city to domestic and international tourists and friends; contributing to the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation in the new era - the era of national development.

The 2025 International Fireworks Festival with the theme “Da Nang - New Era” has applied virtual reality (AR) technology on the Sun Paradise Land application to bring new interactive experiences, helping the audience immerse themselves in the festival space more vividly. With creative fireworks displays, DIFF 2025 combines traditional cultural elements with modern trends, opening a new era for the city.

Especially in the field of cinema, with the orientation of building a “City of events and festivals”, the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF III) continues to become a brand event of the city, thereby promoting cultural industries, especially cinema, aiming to make Da Nang a city of events, a bridge for filmmakers, directors, actors, and audiences at home and abroad to exchange, learn, and cooperate in cinema.

Perfecting appropriate mechanisms and policies

On May 8, 2025, the City People's Committee issued the Project "Developing cultural industries in Da Nang city to 2030". Accordingly, the city sets a key goal of developing the cultural industry into an important economic sector; striving to achieve revenue from the cultural industry of about 7.5% of Da Nang city's GRDP by 2030 and create more jobs for society.

In particular, priority is given to developing a number of suitable cultural industrial products and services with potential, advantages and unique identity of Da Nang such as: cultural tourism; software and entertainment games; cinema; advertising; performing arts..., contributing to the socio-economic development of the city. Attention is paid to developing the following industries: television and radio, handicrafts, fashion; applying advanced technology for sustainable development, forming cultural products with prestigious brands, participating deeply in the global value chain.

To achieve the set goals, Da Nang city will review and perfect policy mechanisms related to the development of cultural industries to ensure conformity with the context of technological development, international markets and creative trends in cultural industries.

The city focuses on effectively implementing regulations to protect intellectual property rights and building mechanisms to encourage investment from socialized sources to participate in the development of cultural industries, the participation of the community and businesses.

In addition, promote digital transformation in all fields, build infrastructure as well as train high-quality human resources for cultural industries.

In particular, after merging with Quang Nam, with its deep and diverse cultural layers, Da Nang city needs to soon promote the connection of cultural regions and products together to create a comprehensive chain of cultural experiences.

Through the effective implementation of the project, Da Nang city will continuously promote the achieved results, focus on overcoming shortcomings and limitations with the goal of continuing to develop culture on par with the economy, associated with the development of cultural industry to help promote Da Nang's cultural identity to domestic and foreign friends, while contributing to increasing the cultural "soft power" of the nation.

Striving to achieve revenue of about 7.5% of GRDP by 2030

The city aims to make Da Nang the leading advertising center in the country by 2030, with the goal of achieving 15% annual growth in digital advertising revenue, contributing about 1% of GRDP by 2030;

Build Da Nang into one of the three major film centers of Vietnam, by 2030 strive for the film industry to have an average growth rate of about 8%/year, reaching nearly 2,000 billion VND, contributing about 0.34 GRDP;

By 2030, the performing arts industry is expected to contribute about 1.7% to Da Nang's GRDP;

Attract at least 3 million cultural tourists each year and strive for the contribution of cultural tourism to the city's GRDP to reach an estimated 5%;

Strive for the proportion of information technology industry contributing to GRDP to reach 8 - 10%.
