Inauguration of Vinh Yen 500kV Transformer Station and power line to celebrate National Day September 2

(Chinhphu.vn) - On August 19, in Phu Tho, Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) coordinated with Phu Tho province to organize the inauguration ceremony of Vinh Yen 500kV Transformer Station and connecting line.

This is one of 80 typical projects selected by the Government to organize the inauguration and groundbreaking ceremony of projects and works to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

The 500kV Vinh Yen Transformer Station (TSA) bridge point is one of 80 bridges connecting online with the central bridge point at the National Exhibition and Fair Center.

The 500kV Vinh Yen substation project and connecting line are special-class, group B energy projects invested by EVNNPT, NPMB is assigned to manage and operate the project, Power Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company 3 designs, and Power Transmission Company 1 takes over and operates.

The 500kV Vinh Yen transformer station and connecting lines were built in Trung My commune, Binh Xuyen district, Vinh Phuc province (old), now Binh Tuyen commune, Phu Tho province.

The project has a scale of building a new 500/220/35kV transformer station including 2 transformers of 900MVA, each transformer is connected to a combination of 3 single-phase transformers, capacity of 300MVA; Building 500kV and 220kV feeder compartments; Building 2 connecting lines with a length of 4.7 km.

Despite many difficulties and challenges, with the attention of local authorities, the strong direction of EVN, EVNNPT and the high determination of contractors participating in the construction, the project was completed and put into operation on July 21, 2025, meeting the set schedule.

The 500kV Vinh Yen transformer station and connecting line, when completed, will be connected to the 500kV Hiep Hoa - Son La line. Hiep Hoa - Viet Tri will be the transfer point between two sources of thermal power and hydropower - from Son La and Lai Chau hydropower plants and thermal power clusters in the Quang Ninh area.

The transformer station will also be connected to the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen line after the line is completed, promptly releasing power from small hydropower plants in the Northwest region and importing electricity, contributing significantly to ensuring electricity in the Northern region in the following years.

The project, once completed, will be of great significance in meeting the growing load demand of the Phu Tho province power system; creating strong links between areas in the power system, increasing the ability to operate safely and stably for the national power system.

The inauguration of the 500kV Vinh Yen Transformer Station and connecting line project is the result of the emulation movement to successfully complete all assigned tasks by the staff of EVN and EVNNPT.

The inauguration of the project affirms the organizational, management, construction capacity and the courage to overcome difficulties of EVN and EVNNPT in the period of strong transformation to firmly enter a new term, a new era with many great expectations.

At the ceremony, EVN Deputy General Director Nguyen Tai Anh said: Recently, the Government and the Prime Minister have issued many documents with strong instructions to ensure sufficient electricity supply for production, business and people's daily life. In addition to investing in the construction of urgent power source projects to serve the socio-economic development goals, investing in the construction of transmission grid projects is an extremely urgent task to strengthen strong connections between regions, increase the ability to operate safely and stably for the national power system, especially transmission projects to serve the release of power plants' capacity and import electricity.

The 500kV Vinh Yen substation project and the connecting line are very important projects in connecting the regional power grid and importing electricity. Although there were many challenges during the implementation process, with the help of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Ministers, ministries, departments, branches and localities involved in the BTGPMB work and the efforts of the investor and contractors participating in the project, the project was completed on schedule.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Le Phu, General Director of EVNNPT said: The project is honored to be selected by the Government as one of 80 typical projects to be started and inaugurated today. This is the pride of EVN employees in general and EVNNPT, and a great motivation for EVNNPT to strive to complete the assigned tasks.

In the coming time, EVNNPT will have to complete many key and urgent projects under the direction of the Prime Minister and the Group. EVNNPT and its affiliated units will continue to strive to complete all planned tasks assigned by the Group, contributing to ensuring the country's energy security.
