Da Bac Commune, Ca Mau Province is a land with many potentials thanks to the advantages of interwoven forests and seas. For many years, people in the sweetened areas of the commune have not only stuck with rice but also boldly converted and rotated crops on rice fields. Currently, the whole commune has more than 2,000 hectares of land for growing vegetables, concentrated in hamlets such as Hamlet 5, Hamlet 3, Hamlet Coi 6B... With the spirit of diligence, hard work, not letting the land rest, farmers also make the most of small areas such as ridges, garden land, and roadside land to grow vegetables of all kinds: long beans, bitter melon, cucumber, squash, green mustard, herbs...

Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Hamlet 6A, uses 2 rice fields (each bank is about 800 m long) to grow squash, bitter melon, cucumber... earning over 50 million VND/crop.

These short-term crops are not only easy to cultivate but also help rotate income sources effectively. Many households said that the profits from crops are even one and a half times higher than those from rice cultivation, especially at times when agricultural prices are high, such as near Tet.

Taking advantage of the banks and empty beds to grow crops brings a good income to farmers in the sweetening area of Da Bac commune.

Bringing color to the fields is not simply a seasonal story, but also a clear demonstration of the adaptive and proactive spirit of farmers in Da Bac, a land that is gradually transforming strongly in building a new countryside.

Nowadays, thanks to convenient transportation, people only need to harvest crops and wait for traders to come to their homes to buy them.
