The two latest names to qualify for the quarterfinals of the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Cup are the United States (beat Canada 3-0) and Türkiye (beat Slovenia 3-0).
Previously, the quarter-finals had determined the 6 teams present: Netherlands (won Serbia 3-2 in the round of 16), Japan (won Thailand 3-0), Italy (won Germany 3-0), Poland (won Belgium 3-2), France (won China 3-1), Brazil (won Dominican Republic 3-1).
Of the eight teams that have advanced to the quarterfinals, only Italy, the United States and Japan have previously won the World Cup. The remaining teams will be aiming to reach the pinnacle of Women's Volleyball World Cup glory for the first time.
In the quarterfinals, the Netherlands will face Japan, Italy will meet Poland, Brazil will face France, and the United States will face Türkiye. Of these, Italy and Poland will be the most exciting matchup, as the two teams are ranked first and third respectively in the FIVB world rankings.
With the clash with the Dutch girls, Japan has a chance to advance to the semi-finals of the Women's Volleyball World Cup. However, the Japanese girls also need to be very focused because the Dutch women's volleyball team is not an easy opponent to defeat. In the round of 16, the Netherlands defeated the defending champion Serbia.
In the remaining two matches, the Brazilian girls are rated much higher than France. Meanwhile, the competition between the US and Türkiye is predicted to be very attractive and dramatic as the two teams are considered to have similar strength.
The quarter-finals of the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Cup will take place on September 3 and 4.
