Independence Day is not only a sacred festival to commemorate the contributions of our ancestors, but also an occasion for cultural convergence, sports , unique customs, community bonding, creating the unique identity of each region of the capital.

Bustling in Minh Chau island commune
This year's National Day, September 2nd, became even more special for the people of Minh Chau island commune, as everyone happily received meaningful gifts from the State. Laughter filled the village, making the Independence Day more complete and warm.
On August 31 and September 1, Minh Chau commune completed the distribution of National Day gifts to 100% of the people. At the commune People's Committee headquarters, the red color of flags and flowers mixed with smiles and cheerful congratulations, brightening up an island countryside on the Red River.

Chairman of Minh Chau Commune People's Committee Bui Thai Son said that although it was a holiday, the commune and village officials still worked at full capacity to ensure timely payment, not leaving any people behind, even if they had to work through the night. This is a deeply humane program, demonstrating the concern of the Party and State, and we want all Minh Chau people to share in the joy on this important day.
Mr. Phuong Van Truong in Chu Chang village excitedly said: “The first time I received a gift on National Day 2-9, my family was very happy. On the right holiday, the whole family gathered to have a reunion meal to have a meaningful Independence Day.”

As the only island commune of the capital, Minh Chau has more than 1,060 hectares of natural land, the people mainly do agriculture . Therefore, every holiday and Tet becomes a big festival for the community. Previously, on August 15 and 16, the commune organized an "Early Independence Day" with a cultural and sports festival and a solidarity meal with the participation of all the people.
It can be said that on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2 this year, Minh Chau people celebrated Tet in a bustling, warm atmosphere. Flags and flowers were bright, the atmosphere was joyful in every family... On this small island commune, Independence Day is not only a historical anniversary, but also a festival of faith, of love for the homeland and country.

National pride in mountainous communes
Leaving Minh Chau island commune, we went to Suoi Hai, where the atmosphere of Independence Day was more bustling and jubilant than ever. On the eve of National Day, the whole commune simultaneously launched an environmental sanitation campaign. People voluntarily practiced a civilized lifestyle, "3 cleans": Clean houses, clean alleys, clean roads and followed the motto: "Clean houses, green gardens, no trash on the roads". The roads were swept, the sewers were cleared, trees were arranged, creating a green - clean - beautiful appearance, spreading the spirit of responsibility and joyful atmosphere on the big holiday.
The atmosphere became even more exciting with a series of cultural and sports activities. The Suoi Hai Commune Elderly Arts Festival gathered elaborate performances, from singing and dancing, folk dancing, health care to modern dancing, praising the Party, Uncle Ho, the homeland and the country. Mr. Tran Van Han, interim Chairman of the Commune Elderly Association, affirmed that the elderly should promote their role as good examples, not only living happily, healthily and usefully, but also contributing to preserving and spreading the grassroots arts movement.

Or at Go Song Stadium, the special art program attracted a large number of people, with songs and dances that aroused national pride, solidarity, and aspirations. Vice Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Suoi Hai Commune Nguyen Thi Hong Le shared that the Independence Day in Suoi Hai is not only a festival of culture and spirit, but also adds motivation for cadres, party members, and people to unite and compete to successfully complete the development goals of 2025.
For the people of Ba Vi commune - the farthest mountainous commune in the capital, nearly 100km from the city center, Independence Day is always an occasion for gathering, bonding, and arousing the spirit of national unity. These days, all villages and hamlets are bustling with flags, flowers, gongs, etc., creating a festive atmosphere.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Quyet in Lien Bu village smiled gently: "The national flag flies on every roof, people together clean the alleys and make the streets clean and beautiful to welcome the Independence Day. This year is the 80th anniversary of National Day, the State organizes a parade, the joyful atmosphere from the capital spreads throughout the mountains and forests of Ba Vi. Receiving gifts from the Party and the State, we are even more excited, the Tet meal is therefore warmer and more special".

Ba Vi Commune has a large area, Kinh, Dao, Muong people live together, each Independence Day shines with its unique cultural features. Besides the exciting cultural, artistic, physical education and sports activities, September 2 is also the time for children far from home to return home to reunite. In many families, pigs and chickens are slaughtered, and the reunion meal becomes an indispensable ritual. Dao people often organize in the family, gather around the fire, and enjoy traditional dishes such as grilled meat, stream fish, and sticky rice. These simple dishes are imbued with family affection, both to entertain guests and to remind descendants to preserve their national identity.
In particular, the city has arranged 2 large LED screens at Khanh Thuong center and Trung temple intersection for people to watch the parade live from Ba Dinh Square. The images are transmitted to the mountains and forests of Ba Vi, creating a close and joyful atmosphere for every citizen.

Not only in Ba Vi commune, but also in Yen Bai and Yen Xuan communes, where many Muong people gather, the atmosphere of Independence Day is equally exciting and bustling. Everywhere on the roads, red flags and flowers are fluttering, banners and slogans are decorated brilliantly. The sound of gongs and drums, combined with the bustling bamboo dance and xoe dance, are indispensable "specialties" of the Muong people, making the space of the mountains and forests on Independence Day even more bustling. Before the holiday, the communes mobilized the entire population to clean the environment, clean the village roads and alleys; families simultaneously hung the national flag, creating a fresh and spacious appearance to welcome the great festival of the nation.
Independence Day in Minh Chau island commune and mountainous communes of the capital today is not only a day of celebration, but has become a spiritual support, a thread connecting each citizen with the Fatherland, so that from that faraway place, patriotism and national pride still surge, resounding in every gong beat, every wave, every thousand winds.
