Gyokeres - MU deal ends

Viktor Gyokeres deal with Manchester United closed because the Swedish striker only chose Arsenal.

Despite reports that MU tried to intervene in the deal when Arsenal had problems negotiating the add-on clause, the Swedish striker firmly refused. According to A Bola , Gyokeres only wants to move to Arsenal, despite the intervention of intermediaries or attempts to change the deal from Sporting Lisbon.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also confirmed that there was no offer from MU, nor any negotiations took place. The Italian journalist further explained: "It is true that some intermediaries tried to introduce that opportunity, including bringing Gyokeres to Saudi Arabia. But he flatly refused and chose only Arsenal."

Initially, Arsenal had an easy time agreeing personal terms with Gyokeres and agreed a transfer fee of around £54.8m with Sporting. However, the two sides disagreed on the £8.6m add-on fee. Sporting wanted it to be a near certainty, while Arsenal wanted a more difficult performance-linked bonus to hedge their risk.

If the deal is finalised in the coming days, Gyokeres could make his Arsenal debut against Villarreal on August 6, after the Asian tour. For now, he will miss friendlies against AC Milan, Newcastle and Tottenham as part of the team's tour of Singapore and Hong Kong.

With MU, coach Amorim hopes to bring in another striker and a midfielder, in addition to selling out players who are no longer suitable such as Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia.
