Kolia Cao Bang Limited Company builds raw material areas, produces high-quality tea products, and combines eco-tourism with good results.
OCOP products stand firm, are accepted and favored by customers in domestic and foreign markets, contribute to the development of rural economy , improve and increase income for people and producers, and actively contribute to sustainable poverty reduction and new rural construction.
Sustainable development of OCOP products
Most of Cao Bang province's OCOP products belong to the food and beverage group, many of which are high quality and popular with domestic and foreign customers such as Kolia tea, Tan Viet A vermicelli, black jelly from many processing facilities...
Kolia Limited Liability Company in Thanh Cong Commune owns two 4-star OCOP tea brands, Danh Tra and Dinh Tra. Mr. Hoang Manh Ngoc, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, said that in 2013, the company's tea products began to appear on the market, serving domestic customers; by 2019, the products were exported. From 2024 to present, the company has exported more than one ton of tea to the Chinese market, with a revenue of more than one billion VND, and an average price of about one million VND/kg of tea.
Sharing about the production process of products that meet strict export standards, Mr. Hoang Manh Ngoc added: Tea trees are grown at an altitude of more than 1,000 m above sea level, with suitable climate and soil conditions; and are grown and cared for according to organic standards. The company uses preparations extracted from chili, garlic, and neem leaves to spray to prevent and control pests. In addition to building beautiful product designs and packaging to attract customers, the company's tea product processing process is consulted and guided by good domestic and foreign experts, so it has met the tea drinking "taste" of "difficult" domestic and foreign customers.
Starting production and brand building in 2017, by 2023, Tan Viet A vermicelli products of Tan Viet A Agricultural Cooperative in Minh Tam commune were certified as 4-star OCOP products and widely consumed in the domestic market. Since the beginning of 2025, Tan Viet A vermicelli has been exported to the US market through a partner in Ho Chi Minh City.
Sharing about the process of building a brand and expanding the product consumption market, Mr. Tran Duc Hieu, Director of Tan Viet A Agricultural Cooperative said: In order to continuously improve product quality, the cooperative has invested in machinery and factory systems to meet production requirements and ensure food safety and hygiene. For example, in the production line, large-capacity cassava flour filtering machines have helped the cooperative increase processing capacity and quality of cassava vermicelli products by filtering out impurities and sand particles remaining after the cassava flour pre-processing and refining process.
Strengthening e-commerce promotion
Sharing about the task of supporting and "giving wings" to OCOP products in Cao Bang to reach out to domestic and international markets, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Nong Thanh Man said: In recent years, the specialized sector and localities have organized many training courses, consulting and supporting on packaging design, models and supporting production entities to build and complete documents to be recognized as OCOP products. The good news is that after being granted OCOP product certification, products are better consumed and have increased value, revenue and profit.
Faced with the fact that some producers have reported difficulties and limitations in accessing customers and expanding markets, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has increased support for producers to promote and introduce OCOP products to customers inside and outside the province. In addition to organizing fairs to introduce and promote OCOP products locally, the Department also introduces producers to participate in fairs in localities across the country to reach customers in many regions. To keep up with the trend of digital transformation and e-commerce development, the Department of Agriculture and Environment coordinates with the Department of Science and Technology and the Department of Industry and Trade to support producers in building QR codes to trace the origin of products. "We focus on supporting producers to put OCOP products on e-commerce platforms; build accounts and social networking sites to promote products and sell products; guide livestreaming to sell OCOP products on social networks...", said Mr. Nong Thanh Man.
Despite many positive results, some OCOP products of Cao Bang province are still in the form of preliminary processing, there are not many medicinal products or high-tech products. Many production entities are small-scale businesses; the proportion of cooperatives and enterprises that are production entities (with capital, production experience and conditions for applying high technology to production) is not high. Clearly identifying some limitations, Cao Bang province determined to continue focusing on building and developing high-quality OCOP products that are accepted and favored by the market. Thereby, production entities, cooperatives, enterprises and people will be the center of innovation and benefit from the results ■
