Da Nang needs to promote river tourism .
Good news for the tourism industry
Recently, the City People's Committee has approved the investment policy for the project of Investment in construction and business of inland waterway tourism in the area.
Accordingly, the investment project will build, renovate, upgrade and expand 20 inland waterway wharves with ancillary works serving the wharves’ operations with a total land area of over 15 hectares. At the same time, it will build parks behind 11 wharves with a total expected land area of over 25 hectares.
There will be inland waterway tourism business activities, developing new tourism products such as tours, food and beverage services, and on-board entertainment to attract visitors to waterway tourism.
The project has a total investment of nearly 10,000 billion VND, including site clearance costs, and a 50-year operating period, and is being implemented along the Han River, Co Co, Vinh Dien, and Cam Le.
This is good news for the city's tourism industry, especially river tourism services.
Co Co River, an untapped potential for river tourism.
Da Nang has an outstanding advantage to develop river tourism with the poetic Han River flowing through the city center, connecting with Da Nang Bay and flowing into the sea, along with other rivers such as Cu De, Co Co, Cam Le, Qua Giang... The landscape on both sides of the river with modern architectural works, sparkling lights at night or the wild, majestic beauty of Cu De River are invaluable resources.
However, Da Nang river tourism mainly focuses on night cruise tours on the Han River, watching the fire-breathing Dragon Bridge and the Han River Swing Bridge.
Although attracting a significant number of visitors, the product is still quite monotonous, not fully exploiting the diversity of local landscapes and cultures. The lack of standard wharves, synchronous support services and limitations in routes and operating hours are also significant barriers. Many cruise ships are still converted from fishing boats, not really meeting the standards of quality and high-class services.
Ms. Pham Thu Lan, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, said that the impression of her visit to Da Nang was cruising on the Han River to watch the Dragon Bridge breathe fire and water on weekend evenings with soft music. Enjoying dinner with local dishes or fresh seafood brought a feeling of relaxation and comfort.
However, the quality of service on some ships is still uneven. It is necessary to improve facilities as well as enhance services, destinations and cultural and artistic activities along both sides of the river.
Open new directions
If Da Nang river tourism wants to really make a breakthrough, it needs synchronous solutions and long-term strategies, such as diversifying tourism products and expanding routes and destinations. Not only stopping at the Han River, it is necessary to exploit new tourist routes such as the Cu De and Co Co rivers.
Tourists experience tourism on the Han River.
Cu De River has great potential for eco-tourism, exploring wild natural landscapes, combined with cultural and historical values.
At the same time, develop specialized tours such as: Culinary tourism on the river, experiencing fishing village culture, watching sunrise/sunset on the river, or tours combining water sports (SUP, kayaking) in peaceful river areas.
Along with that is investing in various types of boats such as luxury yachts, restaurant boats, houseboats and other modern and safe means of water transport to meet the diverse needs of tourists.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam, General Director of Viet An Group, proposed that it is necessary to encourage businesses to invest in infrastructure such as wharves, luxury ships, recreating riverside cultural spaces, and developing inter-regional routes such as the Co Co River connecting to Hoi An.
In addition, create events on the river, organize light festivals, art performances on the river, or boat races to create highlights and attract tourists.
At the same time, plan and build tourist wharves in other potential areas such as Cu De River, connecting riverside and island tourist spots.
In addition to creating an open and transparent mechanism for businesses, review and issue clear regulations on investment processes, licensing of inland waterway tourism activities, inland waterway ports, floating marinas, etc.
River tourism not only opens a new direction for Da Nang tourism but also contributes to preserving and promoting the value of rivers, creating more jobs and revenue for the locality.
With the synchronous participation of the government, businesses and the community, Da Nang river tourism will certainly become a key product, bringing unforgettable experiences to tourists.
