After many years of teaching and researching in the UK in the fields of human brain, computers, neuroscience and artificial intelligence (AI), Dr. Vi Chi Thanh, CEO of Brain-Life Link Technology Joint Stock Company, decided to return to Vietnam to start a business.

Dr. Thanh chose the field of mental health - an important but little-noticed field. It is estimated that every year, the world spends up to 1,000 billion USD on mental health. One-eighth of the world's population is facing mental disorders, anxiety or depression.

Based on the above facts, Brain Life develops a mental health monitoring device using neurotechnology and artificial intelligence platform. The main product is a head-mounted device, like a smart watch for the brain, which can detect early signs of stress, exhaustion, and loss of concentration, thereby giving advice or warnings: "You will be tired in 5 minutes, need to rest", "You are about to lose concentration, you should do something to improve"...

This smart wearable device also personalizes intervention solutions, helping users improve their learning, work, sleep performance and even suggests suitable exercises.

This is a non-invasive, highly secure device, priced at only 3-5 million VND, 90% lower than specialized EEG (electroencephalography) devices and much cheaper than an Apple Watch (about 400-500 USD).

With a team of about 30 people, one-third of whom have PhDs, Brain Life is not like a typical fledgling startup. The founding team includes leading experts in AI, neuroscience, and biotechnology, including Vietnamese people who have worked at international research centers.

Brain Life's device integrates many modern sensors such as EEG (electroencephalogram), fNIRs (red blood cells), PPG (heart rate) and is certified for testing in hospitals.

“We not only develop technology but also master the chip and optimize production costs. The entire device is designed and developed right in Vietnam, a high-tech product, completely made in Vietnam” - Mr. Thanh introduced.

Regarding the business plan, Mr. Thanh said that by 2028, it is expected to sell this mental health monitoring device directly to consumers, expanding globally.

"Brain Life wants to become a smart watch for mental health" - Mr. Thanh emphasized the message.
