According to Resolution 187/2025/QH15 of the National Assembly, the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway line has a total length of about 419 km, starting at the cross-border rail connection point in Lao Cai, ending at Lach Huyen station, Hai Phong city. Of which, the main line length is about 390.9 km, the rest are branch lines. Specifically, the above railway line passes through the provinces: Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Hanoi city and Hai Phong city.
The route through Bac Ninh province is 3.76 km long, with a clearance area of about 40.5 hectares, passing through the wards of Phu Khe, Tu Son, and Song Lieu.
The total investment of the project is over 203 trillion VND. There are 18 stations (3 train stations, 15 mixed stations) and 13 technical stations along the entire route. The project is large-scale, has a long range, applies new technology, integrates many specialties, and is the first electrified railway project implemented in Vietnam. The National Assembly has allowed the project to apply many specific mechanisms and policies for implementation.
During the inspection, comrade Tran Hong Minh highly appreciated the proactive spirit and close coordination of units and localities in the preparation process for the project. He emphasized that the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway is an important national key transport project, creating favorable conditions for the import and export of goods, promoting the development of logistics and industry in the midland and mountainous areas of the North.

To speed up the project implementation, he requested consulting units and relevant localities to coordinate closely to ensure that the project implementation is consistent with regional planning, urban and rural planning along the route. At the same time, ensure the harmony of technical and environmental factors associated with sustainable development, contributing to improving people's lives.
The Railway Project Management Board and the consulting unit will complete all documents on station locations, connecting routes, and plans to relocate electrical works in August to serve the groundbreaking ceremony. At the same time, they will study the viaduct plan for the section through Hanoi - Bac Ninh to avoid intersections with roads and reduce impacts on residential areas.
