At 4:30 a.m. on July 22, Da Nang Newspaper recorded that pepper prices had leveled off after a series of declines, currently fluctuating between 137,000 - 140,000 VND/kg.

Pepper price today in the Central Highlands region

Gia Lai : Current pepper price is 137,000 VND/kg, unchanged from the previous day.

Dak Lak : Pepper price is recorded at 140,000 VND/kg, unchanged from the previous day.

Lam Dong (formerly merged Dak Nong): Pepper price is also at 140,000 VND/kg, unchanged from the previous day.

Pepper price today in the Southeast region

Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau merged): Pepper price is 138,000 VND/kg, unchanged from the previous day.

Dong Nai (formerly merged Binh Phuoc): Pepper price is recorded at 138,000 VND/kg, unchanged from the previous day.

According to the Director of a large agricultural business in the Central Highlands, the pepper market is currently strongly affected by speculative factors, making business activities "as unpredictable as gambling". The main problem lies in the pepper market lacking a clear trading floor and "arbitrator" to regulate, leading to a lack of transparency and fierce competition, causing difficulties for many investors.

Many traders had expected pepper prices to rise to VND180,000-200,000/kg this year due to forecasts of a supply shortage. This prompted them to stock up at the beginning of the harvest season, accepting to buy at a price of around VND150,000/kg. However, the market later became more complicated than expected, especially with information about the reciprocal tax rate from the US causing deep price reduction pressure, putting these investors at a disadvantage.
