Hanoi: Request not to organize taking tourists to stormy areas

In the face of the complicated developments of storm No. 3 (storm WIPHA) and its approach to the northern provinces and cities, the Hanoi Department of Tourism has requested that tourism businesses not organize tours to areas affected by the storm to ensure the safety of tourists.

On the evening of July 21, the Hanoi Department of Tourism issued Official Dispatch No. 985/SDL-KHPTTNDL to tourism businesses in the area regarding proactively preventing and combating adverse developments of storm No. 3, ensuring safety for tourism activities in the city.

The document clearly states that, implementing Official Dispatch No. 3550/CD-BVHTTDL dated July 19, 2025 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) and the direction of the Hanoi People's Committee on focusing on responding to storm No. 3 in 2025 (storm WIPHA), the Hanoi Department of Tourism requests units, enterprises, organizations and individuals doing tourism business in the city to urgently and seriously implement measures to prevent, combat and respond to storms.

Accordingly, tourism businesses, organizations and individuals in the area need to regularly update the situation and developments of rain and storms to be ready and proactive in developing response plans; at the same time, inform tourists about the situation and developments of rain and storms.

For units managing tourist areas, destinations, and tourist accommodation establishments, it is necessary to strengthen inspection, review, and implement plans to ensure safety for people and property at tourist areas, destinations, and accommodation establishments managed by the unit; based on the actual situation and the potential impact of storms and floods, proactively decide or advise competent authorities to direct the temporary suspension of sightseeing, entertainment, recreation, and accommodation activities at tourist areas, destinations, and accommodation establishments managed by the unit.

For travel agencies, the Department of Tourism requests that they do not organize tours to areas where there is a storm to ensure the safety of tourists. In case they are organizing tours or staying in areas affected by the storm, they are required to immediately focus on developing a plan to ensure the safety of tourists, especially international tourists.

Units, enterprises, organizations and individuals doing tourism business need to promptly report any adverse developments of storms and floods at their establishments to the People's Committees of wards and communes where they operate, or report to the City's Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue according to regulations for timely handling measures.
