At the ONE 172 martial arts event held at Saitama Super Arena, Japan on March 23, fighter Superlek Kiatmoo9 (29 years old) faced boxer Nabil Anane (20 years old). Initially, the match was scheduled to be for the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai Championship, but Superlek failed to meet the weight requirements, causing the match to be changed to a 3-round Muay Thai non-title bout.

In the first round, Nabil Anane (of Thai and Algerian descent) kept his distance, using straight punches, while Superlek tried to close in with heavy punches. At the end of the round, Nabil Anane threw a hard knee, followed by a right kick to the face, knocking Superlek to the floor. The referee counted to 8, but Superlek managed to get up and remained standing until the end of the round.

In the second round, Nabil Anane continued to maintain the initiative, continuously launching attacks from the outside. At the end of the round, he executed a right kick to the neck combined with a knee to the face of his opponent.

In round 3, Nabil Anane went all out, using right hooks and low kicks, keeping Superlek from closing in and completely stalemate. At the end of the match, the referee unanimously awarded Nabil Anane the absolute victory.

Anane, the youngest ever WBC Muay Thai world champion, expressed his joy after defeating the Muay Thai and kickboxing legend: "I am really happy. My first dream has come true. I have never felt this happy in my life."

Notably, Anane has been observing fasting during Ramadan as he prepares to compete against Superlek. Normally, during Ramadan, Muslims will fast, abstaining from eating and drinking from dawn until sunset.

In Anane’s case, he chose to adjust his training program to fit Ramadan. Anane adjusted his eating times before dawn and after sunset, starting with dates and water, and then eating meals according to a menu prepared by a nutritionist. Nabil’s nutritionist is Peter Miller – the same person who helped Rodtang pass his weight test.

Regarding his training schedule, after refueling, Nabil Anane switches to sparring after midnight and sleeps 8-10 hours during the day. This is similar to his usual schedule, except for the time zone. This adjustment also helped him adapt better to the Japanese time zone in the recent match (Japan is 2 hours ahead of Thailand).

According to Thai media, ONE Championship also requires hydration testing, so Anane's fasting is not simple. The most important factor that Nabil Anane must maintain is "discipline", so as not to weaken his "faith".
