Biometric identification technology - New trend of global aviation industry
In the digital age, biometric technology is revolutionizing the global aviation experience, helping to shorten check-in times, enhance security, reduce congestion and create a modern, civilized flying environment.
Many developed countries such as Singapore have adopted this technology early, allowing passengers to enter and exit automatically. With a “unique identifier” from biometric data, passengers are easily identified at many automatic touch points, from baggage drop to immigration and boarding procedures, replacing most physical travel documents such as boarding passes or passports.

In Vietnam, the aviation industry is also rapidly transforming with a biometric check-in system for passengers. Following the Prime Minister's directive on April 19, the Ministry of Public Security has coordinated with major airlines and airports to deploy new technology infrastructure, simplifying procedures and improving passenger experience. Airports have also deployed support staff to guide passengers through convenient check-in procedures.
Thanks to the advanced facial recognition system, passengers only need a few seconds to scan their face and complete the check-in procedure.
Seamless, convenient check-in experience for passengers
Ms. Ngo Minh Ngoc (35 years old, Hanoi), a passenger who just experienced the biometric flight procedure with Vietjet , shared: “I am very satisfied with this paperless flight procedure. As someone who often has to travel and go on business trips, I really need quick procedures to avoid having to wait and queue in long lines.”
Applying biometric technology, passengers flying with Vietjet can now check in for the entire flight with the biometric identification application on VNeID and Vietjet Air when there are domestic flights departing from major airports across the country such as Noi Bai ( Hanoi ), Phu Bai (Hue), Cat Bi (Hai Phong), Cam Ranh (Nha Trang), Da Nang, Phu Quoc...
Passengers can use VNeID and Vietjet Air applications to quickly check in for flights.
To check in “paperless” when flying, passengers need to update their VneID level 2 account and use the latest version of the VneID and Vietjet Air applications. Accordingly, passengers only need to open the VneID application, select “Other services”, continue to “Airline services”, select “Online check-in”, then select “Vietjet Air” and perform facial authentication according to the instructions.
In addition, passengers can also check-in directly on the Vietjet Air app by logging in, entering the booking code, selecting the flight and confirming information and seats. Next, select eKYC authentication, accept information sharing and verify with a chip-embedded CCCD. When eKYC is completed, the check-in procedure is completed, helping passengers quickly move through the next steps before the flight.
Vietjet offers a seamless and convenient check-in experience for passengers.
By pioneering the application of biometric technology in flight check-in procedures, Vietjet not only brings fast, safe and modern journeys to passengers but also contributes to realizing the goal of building a smart airport ecosystem in Vietnam, building the world's leading modern aviation service experience for customers.
