Vietnam won many high prizes at international chess tournaments

After a week of exciting competition, on June 12, at the Planning, Fair and Exhibition Palace (Ha Long city), the 2nd Quang Ninh International Grandmaster and Master Chess Tournament closed.

The organizers awarded prizes to players in the advanced movement category for standard chess content.

The tournament attracted nearly 100 players from 9 countries (India, Russia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Philippines and Vietnam) competing in 2 professional categories (GM, IM) and advanced amateur category (FM). The players competed in 2 categories: standard chess and blitz chess.

As a result, in the standard chess event for grandmasters, in group 1, player Bang Gia Huy (Vietnam) won the championship. The Silver medal went to Priasmoro Novendra of Indonesia; the Bronze medal was awarded to Kushagra Mohan of India.

In Group 2, the championship was won by Laohawirapap Prin of Thailand. The Silver medal was awarded to Mohammad Fahad Rahman of Bangladesh, while the Bronze medal went to Gomez John Paul of the Philippines.

In the International Master's Standard Chess event, the Gold medal went to Arca Christian Gian Karlo of the Philippines, the Silver medal went to Firman Syah Farid of Indonesia and the Bronze medal went to Jett Jain of India.

In the men's blitz chess category, the Gold medal went to Quizon Daniel of the Philippines. In the women's category, the Gold medal went to Vu Nguyen Bao Linh of Vietnam.

In the advanced amateur category, Vietnamese player Tran Ngoc Lan won the men's category, while in the women's category, the championship belonged to Vu My Linh of Vietnam.

In addition, two Vietnamese players Le Nguyen Phong and Luu Minh Minh won the championship in the U10 and U8 age groups in blitz chess.

The tournament aims to test and evaluate the results and quality of training and education of athletes of different countries. It is an opportunity and condition for players, especially Vietnamese players, to achieve international standards, increase their Elo coefficient and improve their professional quality.

The tournament also contributes to promoting, introducing and publicizing the land and people of the mining area.../.
