A 21-gun salute resounded at Thang Long Imperial Citadel as General Secretary To Lam and General Secretary and President Xi Jinping performed the flag-raising ceremony.

This is the most solemn ceremony to welcome heads of state.

Inside the Presidential Palace, the military band and the honor guard of the Vietnam People's Army were in their assigned positions.

At the Thang Long Imperial Citadel area, the ceremonial artillery team of the Vietnam People's Army is also ready, waiting for the signal to fire 21 cannon volleys to welcome General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping on a state visit to Vietnam.

According to the scheduled program, on the afternoon of April 14, General Secretary To Lam will preside over the State-level welcoming ceremony for General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, who is visiting Vietnam.

At noon the same day, President Luong Cuong presided over the welcoming ceremony for General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and the high-ranking Chinese delegation at Noi Bai International Airport.

This is Mr. Xi Jinping's fourth state visit to Vietnam in his capacity as General Secretary and President of China; even more special is that this is the second visit of the highest Chinese leader to Vietnam in the same term.

The visit takes place in a special context, with 2025 marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (January 18, 1950 - January 18, 2025). This visit contributes to promoting and deepening the framework of the Vietnam - China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, the Vietnam - China Community of Shared Future, which has strategic significance, bringing the relationship between the two countries to a new height.

Since the two countries established the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership framework in 2008, especially after the historic mutual visits of the top leaders of the two Parties and two countries in recent years, bilateral relations have made strong, comprehensive and remarkable developments in many fields.

The two Parties and two countries always strive to foster bilateral relations, continue to deepen and elevate the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, and build a "Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of Strategic Significance".

The two countries have proposed the "6 more" direction including higher political trust; more substantive defense and security cooperation; deeper substantive cooperation; more solid social foundation; closer multilateral coordination; and better control and resolution of disagreements.

The two sides assessed that the bilateral relationship is at its deepest, most comprehensive and substantive level ever.

Taking place less than a year after General Secretary To Lam's State visit to China, this State visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President Xi Jinping is an important foreign political event of the two Parties and two countries, with strategic significance and long-term impact on the development of Vietnam-China relations in the context of both countries entering a new era, a new era of development.

The visit has important significance and symbolism for the relationship between the two countries, thereby continuing to maintain the positive development trend, spreading strongly to all levels, sectors and people, creating a vibrant, effective and practical atmosphere of cooperation.

It is expected that during the visit, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping will have important talks and meetings with General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

The two sides will have in-depth discussions on strengthening and deepening bilateral relations, including promoting the tradition of regular high-level exchanges, further consolidating political trust, promoting the effective implementation of high-level common perceptions and signed agreements, expanding and improving the effectiveness and quality of cooperation areas in the direction of "6 more", deepening substantive cooperation, achieving many practical results and new highlights.

In addition, General Secretary and President Xi Jinping will also participate in a number of other important foreign affairs activities.
