According to information from the police, the clinic, run by Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong (born in 1980), did not have a practicing certificate, but still directly examined, tested and prescribed treatment for patients. The group also hired people to impersonate security guards at major hospitals to approach and lure people to come to the "ghost" clinic for examination. Through initial investigation, 27 people became victims, with a total amount of illegal money collected up to 123 million VND.
In light of the seriousness of the incident, the Ministry of Health requested the Hanoi Department of Health to clarify the assessment and licensing process, as well as the inspection and supervision of the above clinic. The report must be sent to the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management before 10:00 a.m. on July 14.
The Ministry of Health also directed to strengthen inspection of non-public medical facilities, prevent illegal medical examination and treatment, protect people's rights and health, and strengthen people's trust in the official health system.
