To strictly control the market, the sectors and functional forces of Uong Bi City are strengthening inspection and strictly handling smuggling and trade fraud (BLGLTM); contributing to stabilizing the market, ensuring the rights of consumers.
Located in the West of Quang Ninh, in the dynamic economic triangle of Northern Vietnam, Uong Bi City has many advantages in terms of geographical location, waterway, road and railway transportation; and has rich mineral resources. In particular, Uong Bi is also a locality with many scenic spots, historical, cultural and spiritual relics, so every year a large number of tourists come to visit and relax. This is also a locality with many universities, colleges and vocational schools, so every year it attracts thousands of students to study here. This is a favorable condition for the locality to promote the development of tourism, trade and service sectors.
However, in addition to the advantages, this is also an "opportunity" for businesses and traders of smuggled, counterfeit, fake and poor quality goods to take advantage of their activities, causing many difficulties for the market management work of local authorities. From the beginning of 2024 to the end of November 2024, the city's functional forces inspected and handled 159 violations, with a total amount of administrative fines, auctions of goods and tax arrears of over 5.8 billion VND.
Mr. Vu Thanh Tinh, Captain of Market Management Team No. 6, Standing Agency of Steering Committee 389 of Uong Bi City, said: It is forecasted that at the end of the year, when people's shopping needs increase, subjects often take advantage to promote trading and transporting smuggled goods, counterfeit goods, intellectual property violations, and not ensuring food hygiene and safety, affecting the business environment, as well as the rights of consumers. In order to continue to manage the market well at the end of the year, based on the situation and local characteristics, Steering Committee 389 of Uong Bi City has developed Plan No. 404/KH-BCĐ389, dated November 26, 2024 on implementing a peak period of fighting against smuggling and counterfeit goods in the last months of 2024; before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025.
In particular, focus on controlling items with high consumption during Tet such as cakes, jams, candies, alcohol, cigarettes, soft drinks; food products from livestock and poultry; clothing, fashion accessories; pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, functional foods, medicinal herbs...
Promoting the core and specialized role in market management, Market Management Team No. 6 has proactively grasped and seriously implemented the resolutions, directives, orders and plans of the superiors on market management. Assigning specific tasks to each officer in charge of the area, arranging human resources, developing plans to inspect and control the market at markets, shopping malls, stores, small and retail businesses... to promptly detect violations. At the same time, regularly organizing propaganda and mobilizing businesses in the management area to sign a commitment to strictly implement regulations on commercial business, not to trade in counterfeit goods, fake goods, goods of unknown origin, goods that infringe intellectual property rights...
In performing their assigned functions and tasks, relevant functional forces in Uong Bi City have also increased coordination in inspecting and controlling the market at the end of the year, preventing the formation of hot spots for trading and transporting counterfeit goods and goods of unknown origin, and strictly controlling business activities on the Internet.
