Responding to storm Yinxing, Hue continues to lower water levels of 3 reservoirs to increase flood prevention capacity

In response to storm Yinxing, Thua Thien Hue requested to gradually lower the water levels of Binh Dien hydropower reservoir, Huong Dien hydropower reservoir and Ta Trach irrigation reservoir to increase flood prevention capacity and proactively reduce floods in the coming time.


On the afternoon of November 6, the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Thua Thien Hue province issued a document requesting to continue lowering the water level of 3 hydroelectric and irrigation reservoirs in the area to respond to storm Yinxing.

Accordingly, the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Thua Thien Hue province requested Binh Dien Hydropower Joint Stock Company, Huong Dien Hydropower Joint Stock Company and Irrigation Investment and Construction Management Board 5 to continue operating and gradually reducing the water level of Binh Dien Hydropower Reservoir, Huong Dien Hydropower Reservoir and Ta Trach Irrigation Reservoir.

The gradual reduction of water levels at Binh Dien hydropower reservoir, Huong Dien hydropower reservoir and Ta Trach irrigation reservoir aims to increase flood prevention capacity and proactively reduce floods in the coming time.

In response to the request of the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Thua Thien Hue province, the units managing reservoirs in the area have implemented measures to lower the water level of the reservoirs to increase flood prevention capacity.

In particular, at Ta Trach irrigation lake, the project management unit adjusted the water level of the lake from 6:30 p.m. on November 6, with the total water flow downstream gradually increasing from about 200 m3/s to 400 m3/s.

In recent days, Thua Thien Hue province has had rain, heavy to very heavy rain. According to the provincial Hydrometeorological Station, in the next 25-48 hours, the province will continue to have heavy rain, very heavy rain.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, Typhoon Yingxing is currently active in the sea northeast of Luzon Island (Philippines). Typhoon Yingxing is forecast to enter the East Sea on November 8 with a level 13 intensity, gusting to level 16.

Dangerous area in the next 48 hours: From latitude 17 - 21 degrees North, east of longitude 118 degrees East (dangerous area is adjusted according to forecast bulletins).
