U23 Vietnam dominates the typical lineup of the 2025 Southeast Asian tournament

(Dan Tri) - According to the announcement of the Organizing Committee of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament, U23 Vietnam players dominate the typical lineup. This lineup was announced right before the Asian qualifying round.

The U23 Southeast Asian tournament ended at the end of July, but it was not until yesterday (August 27) that the typical lineup of the U23 Southeast Asian tournament 2025 was announced.

Notably, Vietnamese players make up more than half of this squad, with 6 faces selected. Specifically, in the defense line, we have two faces selected, including Pham Ly Duc and Nguyen Hieu Minh.

In midfield, U23 Vietnam players Nguyen Van Truong, Pham Xuan Bac and Nguyen Phi Hoang are present. And in the forward line, the best player of this year's U23 Southeast Asia tournament, Nguyen Dinh Bac, has a place.

Other faces appearing in the typical lineup include goalkeeper Nico Guimaraes of U23 Philippines, center back Kadek Arel of U23 Indonesia, right back Noah Ledel of Philippines.

In midfield, John Lucero of U23 Philippines plays in the central midfield position, next to Nguyen Xuan Bac.

As for the strikers, the one chosen to play alongside Dinh Bac in the typical lineup is Indonesian striker Jens Raven of Dutch origin. This lineup is arranged according to a 4-4-2 tactical diagram.

Only 3 teams contributed to the typical squad: U23 Vietnam (6 players), Philippines (3 players) and Indonesia (2 players). Meanwhile, another team that entered the semi-finals of the U23 Southeast Asian tournament this year, U23 Thailand, did not have any representative.

The fact that the Vietnam U23 team has 6 representatives in the typical lineup of the regional U23 championship is a spiritual encouragement for coach Kim Sang Sik's students, right before the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers.

The 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers will take place from September 3 to September 9. Vietnam U23 will be in the same group with Bangladesh, Singapore and Yemen. Vietnam U23's group matches will take place at Viet Tri Stadium ( Phu Tho ).
