In the rematch with Australia after less than 1 month at the AVC Nations Cup 2025, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team still showed dominance and had a favorable start at the VTV Cup 2025. Although being rated higher, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet still respected his opponent and was determined to win the opening match of the VTV Cup international women's volleyball tournament. The team fielded its strongest personnel with Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Nguyen Thi Uyen, Tran Thi Bich Thuy, Doan Thi Lam Oanh and libero Nguyen Khanh Dang.
Entering the match, unlike the match with Australia at the AVC Nations Cup 2025 not long ago, the rematch between the two sides at this year's VTV Cup saw Australia play with more determination, attack more sharply and take advantage of Vietnam's first step error to maintain the chase in the first points.
Vietnam then accelerated strongly to increase the gap to 6 points, but Australia also played resiliently to narrow the gap before completely slipping in the acceleration points under great pressure from the home team. Thanh Thuy and her teammates won 25-18 to take a 1-0 lead.
In set 2, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team continued to maintain a good enough position against Australia, without creating too much of a gap but still completely superior with superior squad quality and the advantage of playing with the enthusiastic cheers of the home audience. As the final points approached, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team played better and better to win by 8 points in set 2, leading 2-0.
Entering set 3, the Vietnamese girls had a difficult start - when coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet gave opportunities to names not in the main squad. However, from the score of 14-12, the reigning VTV Cup runner-up completely dominated the match, scoring a very long streak of points to end the set with a double-digit victory, earning themselves their first victory in this year's tournament. In the end, Vietnam beat Australia 3-0 (25-18; 25-17; 25-14).
