VNA and Yonhap exchange professional cooperation agreement in new phase

VNA and Yonhap continue to exchange various types of information; coordinate to improve the quality of Yonhap's Vietnamese News Service - a special information product prepared with the support of VNA.

According to VNA correspondent in Seoul, on August 12, in the presence of General Secretary To Lam and South Korean Prime Minister Kim Min Seok, at the Vietnam-South Korea Economic Forum, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and South Korea's Yonhap News Agency exchanged a new phase of professional cooperation agreement focusing on digital transformation and application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the field of information and communications.

The professional cooperation agreement was signed by VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang and Yonhap President Hwang Dae Il within the framework of General Secretary To Lam 's state visit to the Republic of Korea.

According to the agreement, the two sides will continue to exchange information of all kinds; coordinate to improve the quality of Yonhap's Vietnamese News Service - a special information product prepared with the support of VNA and officially launched on the first day of General Secretary To Lam's delegation's visit to Korea.

During a meeting the same afternoon at the headquarters of Yonhap News Agency, Chairman Hwang Dae Il expressed his hope that the Vietnamese news service will become a channel providing fast and accurate news about Korea, not only for more than 300,000 Vietnamese people living in Korea but also for Vietnamese-speaking readers around the world.

Chairman Hwang Dae Il said that Yonhap's Vietnamese service operates through a large language model (LLM) combination process. Yonhap considers this a new model in conveying foreign information and plans to expand it to other languages.

Yonhap President emphasized that in the era of AI-centered digital innovation, cooperation between the two news agencies not only serves economic exchanges but also contributes to enhancing mutual understanding between the people of the two countries.

General Director Vu Viet Trang highly appreciated the cooperation results between the two sides over the past years. Despite facing many difficulties, from information competition in the digital age to restructuring, VNA and Yonhap have still made efforts to promote bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the information field. VNA effectively exploited Yonhap's information sources on Korea's policies related to Vietnam, the situation of citizens of the two countries, as well as multilateral cooperation mechanisms.

General Director Vu Viet Trang proposed that the two sides increase information exchange on economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges in a more practical and effective manner.

Regarding cooperation in major events, the General Director of VNA proposed to increase information exchange and share experience in providing information at major events.

General Director Vu Viet Trang also mentioned the issue of cooperation in responding to fake news generated by AI, suggesting that the two sides regularly update solutions and increase professional exchanges through many forms, from direct to online, and coordinate content production./.
