Vietnam-Germany University has a Vice President in charge of Vietnamese people.

This morning (August 4), Vietnam-Germany University held a conference to announce the decision of the Ministry of Education and Training on personnel work. Accordingly, the Ministry has 2 decisions to appoint vice principals of this school.

Accordingly, Dr. Ha Thuc Vien (50 years old) continues to hold the position of Vice Principal, and is assigned to be in charge of the school from August 1 until a decision is made by the competent authority regarding the principal. The term of assignment is not more than 6 months. At the same time, Dr. Thomas Aulig (50 years old, German nationality) is appointed to hold the position of Vice Principal of the school for a period of 5 years.

Before being appointed Vice Principal in charge, Dr. Ha Thuc Vien was the Vice Principal in charge of academics of the school.

Dr. Ha Thuc Vien graduated with a master's degree in sustainable development from Chiang Mai University (Thailand) and a doctorate in resource economics from Humboldt University (Germany). He used to be a lecturer, Director of the International Training Center, Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Ecotourism at Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry. From August 2012 to present, he has been Vice President of Vietnam-Germany University, in which he was Vice President in charge from 2016-2018.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Ha Thuc Vien said that Vietnam-Germany University is entering an important transitional period in its development since its establishment in 2008. In the coming period, Mr. Vien outlined three important orientations of the school: continuing to develop management policies, promoting work motivation, and dedication to the team of teachers and researchers.

"To develop a research university, in addition to infrastructure, excellent models are needed. To help excellent models fully exploit their advantages, appropriate mechanisms are needed. In addition, the school must always ensure excellent training quality," said Mr. Vien.

In addition, according to the Vice Principal in charge, the school will operate effectively and optimize the new facility to be inaugurated from the end of 2022.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc hoped that the Vietnam-Germany University would always maintain its quality despite any difficult circumstances. The Deputy Minister said that the university is an excellent and important university in Vietnam. The university is entering a new and turning point stage of development.

"I believe the school will develop sustainably and have a bright future. We must be determined to maintain the school's quality, which is German, European and international quality," the Deputy Minister of Education and Training emphasized.

Vietnamese-German University was established in 2008, with the orientation of becoming a leading research university in Vietnam and in the region. This is also the first university established within the framework of the Project to build a number of excellent universities of the Vietnamese Government .

As a public university in cooperation between the Government of Vietnam and the Federal Republic of Germany, the school applies the model and academic quality standards of leading research universities in the Federal Republic of Germany.

At the end of last year, the school put into use a new campus with a total area of 50.5 hectares, 154,000 m2 of construction floor space and a total investment capital of nearly 200 million USD (equivalent to more than 4,000 billion VND) from preferential credit from the World Bank and counterpart capital from the Vietnamese Government.

Before the issuance of the above personnel decisions, Professor Tomas Benz, President of Vietnam-Germany University, had finished his term on July 31.
