Solution to overcome duplicate street names
Associate Professor Dr. Ha Minh Hong said that previously, there were many opinions related to the solution to overcome the situation of duplicated street names. According to him, the leader of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City once shared that for now, the street names will not be changed, accepting the situation of duplicated street names in different districts, or researcher Nguyen Dinh Tu also said that the previous street names that were duplicated between districts should be preserved to avoid confusion and inconvenience for people...
Based on that, Associate Professor Dr. Ha Minh Hong made proposals to resolve the issue of duplicate street names in the city. He said that it is possible to keep the wall name and add an address, typically Phan Van Tri Street, Cho Quan Ward - Phan Van Tri Street, An Dong Ward or Chu Van An Street, Thu Duc Ward - Chu Van An Street, Tang Nhon Phu Ward...
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Ha Minh Hong, street names associated with addresses do not overlap, so naming in this direction will not be duplicated, while still being closely related to the reality of people's lives, avoiding complicated confusion. Not to mention, directions and lookups with specific addresses associated with street names will be quicker and easier than before.

With the second proposal, Associate Professor Dr. Ha Minh Hong stated that it is necessary to reduce some street names named after not-so-famous people - use more names of famous people, with great historical and cultural significance (prioritize event names, place names) and add addresses, possibly add numbers. According to him, this is a way to reduce the localization and localization of street names, reduce the use of popular names. At the same time, Associate Professor Dr. Ha Minh Hong believes that this is also a way to reduce pressure on the street name bank and increase the consistency of the meaningful value of famous people and typical events.
Meanwhile, Ms. Le Tu Cam - President of the Ho Chi Minh City Cultural Heritage Association, said that there are still many options for naming new roads in the area. "We focus on historical figures, while other aspects such as place names, historical events... are too few," Ms. Tu Cam emphasized. According to the President of the Ho Chi Minh City Cultural Heritage Association, "if we only look for the names of characters, we will be stuck, while we still have a lot of room to name roads, by exploiting place names and historical relics."
Since 2005, the city's competent authorities have issued documents naming 643 routes; renaming 03 routes and adjusting the routes of 19 routes.
The bank of street names and public works (from 2006 to present) has 1,375 names, of which 620 have been used to name streets, and 755 names have not been used. The types in the bank of street names and public works are quite diverse, such as famous people (including domestic and foreign figures), places, historical events, revolutionary movements, historical-cultural relics, and scenic spots.
