Ms. Hai's family's pigs reproduce, providing income from selling breeding pigs. |
“In 2023, my family was supported with 4 local black pigs to raise to develop the economy and gradually eliminate poverty. In early 2024, 2 sows gave birth to 12 piglets, I sold 10 piglets to households in the village, earning nearly 10 million VND. Currently, the two pigs continue to reproduce, providing a stable income,” Ms. Hai shared.
In addition, Hai and her husband boldly borrowed 40 million VND from the bank to invest in breeding cows. With that money, she bought 4 breeding cows to raise, earning more income. Since then, the herd of cows has produced 2-3 more cows each year, and every year her family sells a cow to make ends meet.
Mr. Lang Van Cuong, Vice Chairman of Chau Hoi Commune People's Committee, said that the calf and pig raising project under the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas has provided 45 poor households with one breeding cow, a local breed. 21 poor and near-poor households were each provided with four local black pigs.
“After providing livestock breeds, the commune assigned professional staff and village staff to regularly remind households to take care of them. Most households, after being provided with cows and pigs, built barns and took good care of them. Many households had a source of income after the sows were given breeding rights,” said Mr. Cuong.

In 2024, taking advantage of and effectively promoting capital sources from the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction, the district has integrated with other local poverty reduction programs, striving to reduce the rate of poor households by 4-5%.
