The delegation was chaired and commanded by Major General Tran Van Hau - Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region 1 Command. The delegation also included the Political Commissar of the Region Command, along with officers and soldiers of Squadron 11 and Vietnam Coast Guard Ship 8004.
Also participating in the working trip were representatives of the Ministry of Finance , members of the working delegations from Nghe An, Ninh Binh, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh provinces and Hung Yen Provincial Police.
Education on awareness of protecting sea and island sovereignty

As reported, after arriving at Hon Me Island (Thanh Hoa), due to bad weather conditions, the delegation adjusted the schedule to approach the island and only sent representatives of the delegations to the island to offer flowers and incense to the heroic martyrs on the island and give gifts to encourage officers and soldiers working on Hon Me Island.

To continue the working trip, on the night of June 13 and early morning of June 14, the delegation left Hon Me and continued the journey of nearly 120 nautical miles (220 km) to Bach Long Vy Island (Hai Phong). Upon arriving at the center of the Northeast sea, where the Coast Guard aircraft (Casa) had an accident while rescuing fishermen in 2016, the Coast Guard Command of Region 1 presided over a memorial ceremony and offered incense and flowers to the fishermen who had an accident in the sea area 9 years ago; at the same time, paying tribute to the 9 Coast Guard officers and soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the rescue operation in this sea area and the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Northeast sea.

Then, on the afternoon of June 14, the delegation moved and approached Bach Long Vy Island (Hai Phong). Here, after offering incense and flowers at the Monument to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives on the island, the delegation encouraged, visited and presented gifts to the officers, soldiers, and civilians working on the island; presented gifts to support poor fishermen and poor students who overcame difficulties to study well.

After the gift-giving ceremony, on the way back to the ship, at the anchorage on Bach Long Vi Island, the working group combined propaganda and discussions with fishermen about the situation of fishing and the implementation of regulations on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU). At Bach Long Vi port, the group visited and presented gifts to encourage fishermen from other provinces to anchor; at the same time, propagated and reminded fishermen to strictly comply with the regulations of the Party and State on combating IUU fishing.

After leaving Bach Long Vy Island, on the evening of June 14, the delegation continued their 70 nautical mile (120 km) journey to Co To Island (Quang Ninh). On the morning of June 15, immediately after arriving on the island, the delegation offered flowers and incense at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs and burned incense at the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial House on Co To Island. Next, the delegation presented gifts to encourage officers and soldiers and supported gifts for some poor fishing households and students with difficult circumstances on the island.

Raising responsibility in IUU fishing
Speaking at the places visited, on behalf of the working delegation, Major General Tran Van Hau - Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Command Region 1 said: In addition to performing assigned tasks, from 2025, in response to the wishes of officers and people of coastal provinces, the Coast Guard Command Region 1 will organize a joint working trip combining patrolling and monitoring at sea by the force with taking officers and people of coastal provinces to survey and visit the sea to have a more general and clearer view of the shape of the islands in the Gulf of Tonkin; thereby strengthening the solidarity between the force and localities and people; helping the Party committees and authorities of coastal localities have a perspective to effectively exploit and develop the marine economy.

After listening to the delegation's briefing and gift-giving, representatives of the leaders of Bach Long Vy and Co To island districts sincerely thanked the Coast Guard Command of Region 1 and the members of the delegation; at the same time, informed about some political, economic, social security situations and the project to build storm shelter ports of the island districts.

At the experience review meeting early this afternoon (June 15), representatives of the provinces spoke highly of the significance of the survey trip; at the same time, they hoped that in the coming time, the Coast Guard Command and the Coast Guard Region 1 Command would continue to have mass mobilization activities, combining the implementation of tasks with organizing regular mass mobilization surveys to educate the sense of responsibility for protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands for a large number of cadres, people and fishermen in coastal provinces.

Concluding the experience of the working trip, Major General Tran Van Hau - Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Command Region 1 emphasized: Surveying the sea surface and approaching the islands, although difficult and dangerous, is an opportunity for localities, departments and branches to better understand the characteristics of the difficult sea labor of fishermen; at the same time, through practical experience, to understand the working conditions and the implementation of the task of protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Coast Guard in particular and the forces at sea in general. Helping the Party Committee and the authorities to better understand and share with the specialized forces the task of protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands...

Protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands, which is sacred to the Fatherland, the Coast Guard force is always determined to complete every task, overcome every difficulty, and be the support for fishermen to go out to sea. This working trip, despite the bad weather, the delegation overcame difficulties, approached the islands to visit and encourage the soldiers and people of the islands, which is proof. The recommendations and proposals of the delegations will be received and reported by the Coast Guard Command of Region 1, and submitted to the Service and the Ministry of National Defense for consideration in the coming time./.
