More than 1,500 players participate in the 2025 National Youth Chess Championship

On the morning of June 17, at Ninh Binh Provincial Gymnasium, the opening ceremony of the 2025 National Youth Chess Championship for the Doppelherz Cup took place.

The 2025 National Youth Chess Championship is the most important professional tournament for young people in the national chess competition system. The event is organized by the Vietnam Chess Federation in coordination with the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province with the participation of more than 1,500 players from 56 units nationwide.

The Organizing Committee awarded souvenir flags to the participating teams.

Notably, this year's tournament features many faces who have just won medals at world youth tournaments such as Dau Khuong Duy, Nguyen Nam Kiet, Duong Vu Anh, Hoang Tan Vinh, Nguyen Xuan Phuong, Nguyen Bao Nam, Tran Hoang Bao An... along with many other international young masters.

Players will compete in 160 individual and team medal sets, divided into 10 age groups from 6 to 20 (male and female), with 4 events: standard chess, rapid chess, blitz chess and traditional chess. Based on the tournament results, the Vietnam Chess Federation will select teams to participate in international youth tournaments in 2026.

The tournament is an opportunity for units, localities and clubs across the country to evaluate the training and coaching of young athletes, and also aims to discover and select promising talents for the national youth team to participate in domestic and international arenas.

Mr. Vu Hong Minh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the tournament said: "The 2025 National Youth Chess Championship is expected to be a place where talented faces gather, a launching pad for big dreams, big journeys, contributing to affirming the position of Vietnamese intellectual sports on the regional and world map".

The 2025 National Youth Chess Championship takes place from June 17 to June 26.
