In recent days, Haute Couture Fashion Week Fall Winter 2025-2026 has attracted the attention of fashionistas when bringing a series of creative collections from famous designers around the world.

Among the much-talked-about performances this year, the closing collection by Swiss designer Kevin Germanier in collaboration with Vietnamese designer Nguyen Tien Truyen left a special mark.

Not only was the show a colorful and energetic finale, it also marked an important milestone: Nguyen Tien Truyen became the first Vietnamese designer to have a series of designs presented at Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris (France).

He is also the only Vietnamese designer to attend this event with 12 independent designs out of a total of 27 designs in the show in collaboration with designer Kevin Germanier. Nguyen Tien Truyen's designs express a surreal, aesthetic spirit, full of personality and hand-sewn techniques.

According to Nguyen Tien Truyen, the relationship between the two designers began when Germanier accidentally came across his designs on Instagram. Designer Germanier was attracted by the rebellious, unconventional but controlled spirit in the way Nguyen Tien Truyen handled images, materials and structures of his unique outfits.

Not long after, the two had the opportunity to work together at the Eurovision 2025 music contest. Here, Germanier took on the role of fashion director, while Nguyen Tien Truyen was responsible for designing costumes for singer Efendi in the semi-finals and MC Sandra Studer in the finals.

The first collaboration went smoothly, then the two sides kept in touch and soon realized the similarities in fashion in terms of aesthetic thinking, creativity and innovation. Those things contributed to the decision to work together to create a couture collection to be shown in Paris this time.

This collection is inspired by the surreal world and fantastic creatures. "I was inspired by mutant flowers and animals that are treated from a surreal, fantastic perspective. And the most important thing is how to blend that creative spirit with Germanier's personal identity and design language," shared designer Nguyen Tien Truyen.

In 12 unique designs, Nguyen Tien Truyen uses rich materials such as silk, velvet, feathers, metallic plastic, crystal stones and pearls, all of which are completely hand-sewn. The structure of the costumes is complex, requiring high precision, to ensure that each design fits and holds its shape precisely on the model's body.

The implementation process lasted more than 2 months with continuous work intensity of the crew in Vietnam and France.

"The biggest challenge is the construction and structure of the designs. There is no room for error because just a few millimeters off can cause the whole outfit to collapse. In addition, transporting dresses with large structures internationally also causes some details to be damaged and have to be urgently reprocessed in Paris," revealed designer Nguyen Tien Truyen.

The iconic highlight throughout the collection is the red-crowned crane, symbolizing longevity, the desire to fly high, and the image that helped Truyen win the championship at Project Runway Vietnam .

As for Germanier, the French designer had many compliments for his Vietnamese collaborator: "Truyen is a person with a sharp mind, abundant creativity and extremely serious work. He is not only good at aesthetics but also understands how to operate a creative machine from the inside out, from ideas to production and performance."

Designer Kevin Germanier is known as the "king of color" of French fashion. He has worked with many big names such as Taylor Swift, Sunmi, Björk... Therefore, the combination of Germanier and Nguyen Tien Truyen created an attractive performance.

WWD commented: "The spirit of global craftsmanship permeated the show, with the participation of Nguyen Tien Truyen (Vietnam), Marco (Philippines) and Sachin (India), affirming that Kevin Germanier is not only a designer but also a connector of talents from many cultures."

Vogue praised the visual and technical aspects of the collection, commenting: "Plastic bottles were melted and shaped into extensions on some designs."

When asked about his feelings after the show, Nguyen Tien Truyen said he considered this a serious step forward, creating an impression and opening a new direction for himself as well as Vietnamese fashion.

"I hope international audiences see that the creativity of Vietnamese designers is not small. We can create things that the world fashion industry is looking for," Nguyen Tien Truyen shared.

Nguyen Tien Truyen, born in 1993, became known after winning the championship of Project Runway Vietnam season 2. He impressed with his surreal design style, using many new materials combined with meticulous hand-sewn techniques.

In nearly a decade of operation, Nguyen Tien Truyen has launched collections with a strong personal touch, inspired by nature and Asian culture. His designs are often highly performative, creating visual effects while still maintaining artistic depth and emotion.
