On June 8, Cho Ray Hospital ( Ho Chi Minh City) announced that it had just admitted a 50-year-old woman who suffered a stroke after surgery at a cosmetic facility in Ho Chi Minh City.

Dr. Pham Minh Huy, Department of Emergency Resuscitation, Cho Ray Hospital, said that this patient was brought to the emergency room on the evening of June 6 in a comatose state, with a balloon pump through an endotracheal tube, pulse of 101 beats/minute, cold hands and feet, unmeasurable blood pressure, and abdominal drainage from the front line with about 300ml of diluted blood.

Abdominal imaging results showed a large amount of free fluid in the abdomen, blood around the liver, free abdominal air, and a pseudoaneurysm in the epigastric vascular bundle (the abdominal area with the boundary from the navel up to below the sternum) on the right lower side with a size of 10 x 17 mm. There were signs of active bleeding in the right iliac fossa and hypogastric region (the lowest area of the abdomen below the navel or pelvis).

Dr. Pham Minh Huy said that at the Emergency Department, the patient was consulted by specialists in digestive surgery, hepatobiliary pancreatitis, emergency resuscitation... with the decision to perform emergency surgery. During the surgery, a hemorrhage was recorded due to a tear in the large omental blood vessel (located under the abdominal wall muscles). The doctors sutured the bleeding and then transfused additional blood.

“During the surgery, it was recorded that the patient lost 6 liters of blood. This is a huge amount of blood loss. However, fortunately, the patient was admitted to the emergency room in time and blood was replenished, so the liver and kidney damage recovered without leaving any sequelae,” said Dr. Pham Minh Huy.

After surgery, the patient was transferred to the Emergency Department for monitoring and intensive care. After 48 hours of treatment, the patient is now awake and responsive, able to talk and communicate with others. It is expected that the patient will be discharged in the next few days.

In recent times, Ho Chi Minh City has continuously imposed administrative fines of hundreds of millions of VND and suspended the operation of many "underground" beauty salons. The health sector recommends that people carefully research and choose the right service providers when they have beauty needs. When discovering or suspecting an illegal beauty salon, immediately call the hotline specializing in receiving reports of illegal practice and fake illnesses at 0989.401.155, or access the "Online Health" application so that the Department of Health Inspectorate can have information, promptly detect and strictly handle according to regulations.
