On February 22, during his working program in Ho Chi Minh City, General Secretary To Lam experienced Metro Line No. 1 (Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien) - the first metro line of Ho Chi Minh City.

Accompanying the General Secretary were comrades: Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office; Bui Thanh Son, Party Central Committee member, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Experiencing the journey from Ben Thanh station to Tan Cang station, General Secretary To Lam met and chatted intimately with the people on the train. The people were excited to share their feelings when traveling on modern public transport, which greatly shortens travel time within the city, meets the huge daily travel needs of the people and contributes to improving the quality of life.

Metro Line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) is the first metro line of Ho Chi Minh City, approved in 2007, started construction in 2012 with a total investment of more than 43,700 billion VND, connecting the city center with the eastern gateway.

The Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien Metro Line is 19.7km long, consisting of 14 stations (three underground stations, 11 elevated stations) and one depot. The first station is also the central station - Ben Thanh station and the last station of the route is Suoi Tien station.

Officially put into operation from December 22, 2024, Metro Line 1 has so far transported over 4.6 million passengers.

Ticket prices range from 7,000-20,000 VND/trip; a regular monthly ticket is 300,000 VND. For students, the ticket price is reduced by 50% to 150,000 VND/ticket/month; and free for children under 6 years old, meritorious people, seniors over 60 years old, and people with disabilities.

Metro Line 1 not only helps reduce traffic congestion in the central area but also expands urban space to the East of the City, thereby contributing to sustainable socio-economic development in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Metro Line No. 1 is not only a modern urban transport project, but also a symbol of Ho Chi Minh City's aspirations for growth, integration and sustainable development./.
