TKV ensures production, import, processing and blending, providing coal for the market and coal for electricity production.

Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) said that in terms of coal production in May, TKV exploited 3.38 million tons of coal, bringing the output in the first 5 months of the year to 17.65 million tons, up 2.8% over the same period in 2024.

Production and business indicators all increased.

The Group also imported an estimated 1.55 million tons, the accumulated amount in the first 5 months was estimated at 6.25 million tons, an increase of 19%; consumed 4.7 million tons of coal and the accumulated amount in the first 5 months was estimated at 22.24 million tons, an increase of 1.6%; of which, coal delivered to power plants was 4.1 million tons, the accumulated amount in the first 5 months was estimated at 19.21 million tons.

Mineral and chemical units also continued to maintain production with high output. Specifically, alumina production in May is estimated at 131 thousand tons, equal to 102% of the plan, and the cumulative output in the first 5 months is estimated at 625 thousand tons, up 2% over the same period. In May, the Group is estimated to have consumed 137 thousand tons, equal to 114% of the plan, and the cumulative output in the first 5 months is 590 thousand tons and equal to 100% over the same period.

At the same time, TKV produced 8.1 thousand tons of copper concentrate and in 5 months, production reached 47.32 thousand tons. Copper plate output reached 2.88 thousand tons, equal to 102% of the plan, the accumulated output in the first 5 months of the year is estimated at 13.89 thousand tons, up 8% over the same period... TKV also produced 1,006 million kWh, the accumulated output in the first 5 months of the year is estimated at 4.89 billion kWh, up 14% over the same period in 2024.

Thanks to that, the total revenue of the Group in May is estimated at 16.34 trillion VND, the accumulated revenue for the first 5 months of the year is estimated at 77.88 trillion VND; budget contribution is estimated at 2.7 trillion VND, the accumulated revenue for the first 5 months of the year is estimated at 12.3 trillion VND.

The Group's main production and business indicators all increased compared to the same period in 2024: revenue increased by 4%, profit increased by 12%, and payment to the State budget increased by 7%.

A representative of TKV's leadership said: Entering June, it is expected that storms and rains will increase, which may affect the Group's production and business activities, especially coal and mineral mining units; heavy rain in the month will reduce coal demand for electricity production.

Coal supply for electricity production

To successfully complete the production and business tasks in June and strive to achieve the growth target of over 8% in 2025 as directed by the Government , TKV and its units will focus on implementing storm and flood prevention work; continue to maintain production pace, maximize output; ensure production, import, processing and blending, and meet coal needs for the market and coal for electricity production.

TKV implements the production and business plan for June and the first 6 months of 2025 with some key targets: exploiting 3.12 million tons to achieve the target of 20.84 million tons of coal in the first 6 months of the year; expected consumption of 5.04 million tons and expected consumption of 27.29 million tons in the first 6 months. The Group will also produce 125 thousand tons of alumina and the accumulated 6 months will reach 750 thousand tons; consume 119 thousand tons, the accumulated 6 months of the year is expected to reach 708 thousand tons...

At the same time, produce 8.73 thousand tons of copper concentrate, cumulative production in 6 months is 56.04 thousand tons; produce and consume 1.02 billion kWh of electricity, expected to produce 5.91 billion kWh of electricity in the first 6 months of the year. From there, strive to achieve the total revenue of the Group in June is expected to be 16.69 thousand billion VND and cumulative in the first 6 months of 2025 is estimated to reach 94.57 thousand billion VND.
