Israel's Haaretz website on November 25 quoted a source from the country's Ministry of Defense as saying that Tel Aviv's military intelligence knew about the Islamic Hamas movement's plan to attack the Jewish State a year ago.

The source said the information was passed on to the Security Service, but was not taken seriously.

The newspaper quoted an unnamed defense official as saying that Israel's political leadership had received at least some intelligence, but it appeared they did not believe Hamas could carry out the attack plan or breach the border fence.

Earlier, on November 24, the Financial Times also reported that senior officers in Israeli military intelligence described a detailed forecast of a Hamas attack on October 7 as an “unthinkable scenario”.

According to TASS , Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Doron Spielman said that Hamas militants are still holding about 215 hostages in the Gaza Strip. According to Mr. Spielman, about 215 hostages are still in the Gaza Strip but their whereabouts are unknown.
