Promoting cooperation between US and Central businesses

In his opening remarks, US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E. Knapper said that this is a meaningful event for the US and Central business communities, especially in the context of many events and projects taking place in Da Nang in particular and the Central region in general.

Yesterday, the City People's Committee held a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's decision to establish the Da Nang Free Trade Zone and there will be many announcements in the near future, such as the establishment of the Vietnam International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang.

These are encouraging signs, especially the merger of Da Nang city and Quang Nam province will bring a lot of potential to the new Da Nang city.

The Vietnam-US partnership has now reached its 30-year milestone. This is the time to further elevate the bilateral relationship, especially in the areas of high technology, energy, and cloud computing.

There are currently many US corporations looking to invest in Vietnam. New business development models also promote increased cooperation between Vietnam and the US at many levels from national to local.

In recent times, thanks to the leadership and support of the leaders of the Central region in general and Da Nang in particular, the private economic sector has developed. The Central region is shifting from focusing on developing tourism services to high-tech industry, which is also an area that US businesses are interested in.

Hopefully in the coming time, the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and the United States will continue to achieve better results in all socio-economic fields.

According to Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh, in the strategy of developing international economic relations, the United States has always been identified by the city as one of the key partners, playing an important role in promoting strategic cooperation areas.

The city currently has 89 investment projects from the United States with a total registered capital of more than 511 million USD, ranking third in terms of total foreign investment capital in Da Nang. The projects focus on priority areas of the city such as high technology, supporting industries, tourism, real estate, and services.

In particular, in the high-tech sector - a key driving force for the new growth model, Da Nang is the first locality in the country to be allowed by the Government to pilot special incentive mechanisms for the semiconductor and artificial intelligence industries.

The initial results are very encouraging, with 23 semiconductor design enterprises registered in Da Nang, including 8 from the United States, notably Synopsys, Uniquify, and Marvell Vietnam. Marvell has been recognized by the city as a strategic partner in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence industries.

The above figures not only reflect the confidence of US investors in Da Nang's investment environment but also vividly demonstrate the increasingly deep cooperative relationship between Da Nang and US partners in the spirit of trust, sustainable development and creating the future together.

In the near future, Da Nang city with its new stature will create a stronger development space with economic potential, outstanding cultural values, along with many special mechanisms of the Central Government for Da Nang such as free trade zones, financial centers...

To realize the city's development goals in the coming time, the city will continue to focus on effectively implementing activities and solutions to mobilize and use resources and attract specific investments such as implementing appropriate mechanisms and policies to attract domestic and international investment capital.

The city is interested in and invites investors and US businesses with financial and technological capacity to learn about the business investment environment and cooperation opportunities in the city.

The fields in which US businesses have strengths are also the fields in which Da Nang city wishes to attract investment, such as information technology, high-tech manufacturing, automation, semiconductor industry, artificial intelligence, supporting industry, healthcare, education, tourism real estate, etc.

Investors, especially from leading economies such as the United States, are the city’s key partners in this new stage of development. The city is committed to accompanying businesses in the spirit of creation, companionship and risk sharing.

The forum “Harnessing the power of US investment in Central Vietnam” was held to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States.

The forum is organized with three main objectives: to connect US businesses with the Central region of Vietnam, especially Da Nang, an innovation hub that is preparing to expand geographically and in terms of capacity after officially merging with Quang Nam on July 1;

Introducing the potentials, strengths and attractive investment environment of Da Nang and neighboring localities, which are gradually becoming strategic destinations for global investors;

Promote specific cooperation in strategic areas, including high technology, digital transformation, renewable energy, logistics, education, and high-quality healthcare - areas that are shaping the future of the region and the country.

The forum includes discussions and 2 sessions with the following topics: sustainable energy and sustainable infrastructure - driving force for the future of the Central region; high-tech production and high-quality human resource training - exploiting the potential of the Central region.
