Vegetable growing area in Hoang Luu commune is linked with enterprises for production and product consumption.
In Hoang Luu commune (Hoang Hoa), based on its potential and strengths, the commune has mobilized people to actively change the crop structure, accumulate and concentrate land to link large-scale production. The commune has promoted synchronous mechanization in the production process, converting about 20 hectares of inefficient rice land to the rice - fish - fruit tree model, bringing economic efficiency 2 to 3 times higher. At the same time, developing about 100 hectares of commodity agricultural production, applying high technology or following high technology. For aquaculture, the commune has expanded the farming area to about 165 hectares; encourage people to invest in developing about 24 hectares of high-tech farming on canvas, in greenhouses... Mr. Nguyen Van Bon, a resident of Nghia Lap village, said: "With the guidance of the commune to build a production model, I brought asparagus for trial planting, and at the same time applied science and technology to the stages of planting, caring for, and harvesting products. Asparagus is harvested continuously for 20 days/month, each month I harvest an average of 300kg, with revenue reaching hundreds of millions of VND/year".
Besides agricultural production, the commune has more than 235 individual business households, many establishments producing unburnt bricks, carpentry, welding, rattan and bamboo weaving... operating effectively, contributing to job creation and increasing income for workers. Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune Luu Ngoc Hanh said: "The diverse development of rural occupations has promoted the positive shift in the local economic structure; contributing to bringing the income of people in the commune to 67 million VND/person/year".
Besides communes with favorable conditions for agricultural development, many localities in the province are developing traditional occupations to create jobs and stabilize people's lives, such as bronze casting in Tra Dong, Thieu Trung (Thieu Hoa), bamboo and rattan weaving in Hoang Thinh, Dat Tai carpentry in Hoang Dat (Hoang Hoa), Tu Tru sticky rice cake (Tho Xuan), Nga Son sedge mats...
In Tho Xuan district, to increase income for craft villagers, through programs and projects, the district has integrated funding sources to encourage production establishments to invest in modern machinery, in order to improve labor productivity, product quality, and increase competitiveness in the market; especially creating conditions to support market development for traditional products typical of the district. Up to now, traditional craft villages such as Tu Tru sticky rice cake, rang bua leaf cake, peanut candy production, conical hat making... have been developing well, have stable consumption markets, contributing to solving employment for workers. Mr. Ha Cong Tien, owner of a wooden furniture production facility in Thuan Minh commune, said: "Not only preserving and developing the local traditional craft, carpentry is considered a spearhead in the economic development of the commune, currently creating jobs for more than 1,000 local workers".
Developing production to increase income is no longer a “difficult problem” in rural areas. The problem is that localities must know how to exploit land potential more effectively through investing in building advanced agricultural production models, linking production with processing and product consumption. Along with that, innovating and improving the operational efficiency of cooperatives...
