Cultural and historical heritage: The thread connecting the past, present and future

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - The war has ended, peace has been restored, but throughout Thanh Hoa, there are still many cultural and historical heritages that preserve unforgettable memories of the heroic years of struggle of previous generations. Then, after many centuries, the cultural heritages are still preserved by later generations, promoting their values to become the connecting thread between the past - present and future.

Cultural and historical heritage: The thread connecting the past, present and future

Yen Truong Revolutionary Historical Relic Site - a place that marks many important events in the revolutionary struggle of our ancestors.

It is not too much to say that "Thanh is the cradle of the country's heritage", because through thousands of years of history of the nation's struggle to build and defend the country, this place has always been known as the land of "geomancy and talent", the place that has produced many heroes and a rich and valuable treasure of tangible cultural heritage, with 1,535 relics that have been inventoried and protected. Each relic has a history of hundreds of years, even thousands of years, associated with the process of national liberation struggle of previous generations. Among them, the most prominent are Lam Kinh Historical Relic Site, which is considered the holy land of the Later Le Dynasty; Ba Trieu Historical Relic Site, which is associated with Ba Trieu's uprising against the Eastern Wu invaders; Ham Ha Revolutionary Historical Relic Site, which is where the first Party cell of Thanh Hoa province was established; Yen Truong Revolutionary Historical Relic Site is not only a place name but also one of the typical revolutionary centers of Thanh Hoa province during the period of national democratic revolution 1930-1945; Ham Rong Bridge and the Youth Volunteer Monument are the places where Thanh Hoa army and people shot down dozens of American planes, symbolizing the revolutionary will of the nation...

If we say that tangible cultural heritage is a “historical description” in vivid artifacts, and when looking at it, people can see the rise and fall of a nation and a people, then Lam Kinh Historical Site is the most typical representative of that. According to historical documents, in 1428, after defeating the Ming army, Le Loi ascended the throne and established the Later Le Dynasty. In 1430, King Le Loi changed the name of Lam Son to Lam Kinh. After that, he built temples, palaces... here for the Le kings to rest when they returned to worship their ancestors; and it was also the place to build the tombs of the kings, ancestors, and queen mothers of the Le Dynasty.

However, after nearly 600 years of existence, with many historical changes, the entire Lam Kinh Historical Relic Site has been severely damaged, leaving only ruins. However, the role and position of the relic site in history cannot be denied. Therefore, in 1962, Lam Kinh Historical Relic Site was ranked as a national historical, cultural and architectural relic site. In 1994, the Prime Minister officially approved the master plan for the restoration and embellishment of Lam Kinh Historical Relic Site. Since then, many items such as the ancestral temple, the main gate, the dragon yard, the crescent lake, the Ngoc River, the Bach Bridge, the West Lake, the Nhu Ang Lake, the main hall, the tombs of the kings and queen mothers... have been invested in and embellished. With its majestic and solemn architectural works, Lam Kinh Historical Relic Site has become a place for practicing ancestor worship of the entire Vietnamese people.

In early September, we visited the Yen Truong Revolutionary Historical Relic Site (Tho Lap Commune), which marked many important events in the revolutionary struggle of our ancestors. While leading us around the entire relic site, comrade Le Van Luc, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Tho Lap Commune Party Committee, told us about the history of the relic site as well as recalled the heroic years of struggle of previous generations on this land. Previously, the Yen Truong Revolutionary Historical Relic Site was the place where the first Party cell of Tho Xuan District was established (July 22, 1930) and also the place where the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee was established (July 29, 1930). Through many historical periods, Tho Lap has made many contributions to the resistance wars, especially in the resistance war against the French.

With great historical values, in order to preserve, conserve and promote the value of the relic site, meeting the needs of sightseeing, research and study of all classes of people, in 2016 Thanh Hoa province directed Tho Xuan district to be the investor of the project "Restoration and embellishment of Yen Truong Revolutionary Historical Relic Site". After nearly 4 years of implementation, the project has been completed with items such as: relic house, traditional house displaying images and artifacts related to the event of the establishment of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee; the process of leadership, growth and development of the revolutionary movement in Thanh Hoa; achievements of the Provincial Party Committee since its establishment. Along with that, the symbol of the relic site is a combination of the images of the Bronze Drum - Lac Bird - Hammer and Sickle Flag, symbolizing the unification of 3 Party cells into the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee and exuding the spirit of breakthrough and advancement of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee. In addition, the relic site also has a system of trees, fish ponds, and wells arranged in a harmonious, friendly, and intimate manner, evoking the traditional village scenery of the past. Since its reconstruction, the relic site has always been a "red address" attracting many young people and people to visit and study.

In recent times, the province has devoted large resources and actively mobilized social capital to invest in the restoration and embellishment of monuments to serve the religious needs of the people and meet the needs of tourists and researchers. This is also an act to show the gratitude of future generations to the merits of our ancestors, who shed blood and bones to build the nation's foundation.
