On July 29, within the framework of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man's working visit to Switzerland, National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai and Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long and the Vietnamese delegation visited and worked at the Polytechnic University of Lausanne (EPFL).
According to VNA correspondent in Geneva, warmly welcoming Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long and the delegation, Mr. Antoine Jourdan - leader of EPFL and Director of the Swiss Innovation Park - expressed his joy at the development of the relationship between Switzerland and Vietnam over the years, achieving good results and hoped that the delegation's working trip to Switzerland would be successful.
On this occasion, Mr. Antoine Jourdan introduced to the delegation the formation process of EPFL, as well as the teaching programs here, focusing on training in engineering, computer science , natural sciences , architecture and related fields.
In addition, Mr. Antoine Jourdan also provided information about the EPFL Innovation Park, one of the innovation centers in Switzerland.
This is where technology companies, startups, research institutes, and innovation organizations collaborate and develop innovative, high-tech, and new industrial projects.
EPFL Innovation Park is surrounded by numerous academic centers of excellence such as UNIL, IMD, HES-SO and ECAL, among others. The EPFL Innovation Park network includes more than 1,000 startups as well as many successful entrepreneurs, facilitating the exchange and transfer of knowledge, contributing to the development of the startup ecosystem.
EPFL laboratories collaborate with more than 300 major corporations worldwide. With 35 innovation centers and on-site research and development (R&D) centers, they form a community of pioneering individuals and open innovation.
On this occasion, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai expressed his joy at visiting EPFL during the working visit of Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man to Switzerland.
Through his sharing, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly expressed his impression of the school’s training programs, including its vision of innovation. The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly expressed his hope for cooperation in promoting innovation between the two countries, as well as cooperation in developing human resources in high-tech fields.
In addition, Vice President Nguyen Duc Hai also informed the school that Vietnam has issued Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, identifying science, technology, innovation and digital transformation as strategic breakthroughs and important driving forces for socio-economic development and enhancing national competitiveness, expressing hope that relevant parties can coordinate to seek and implement projects of the Swiss government and enterprises to develop the field of artificial intelligence (AI) in Vietnam.
Afterwards, the delegation members also asked questions to EPFL about issues such as how to raise and maintain funding to maintain dozens of on-site innovation centers and R&D centers, as well as support programs for pioneering innovation individuals.
Also on July 29, the Vietnamese delegation had a working session at the headquarters of SICPA, a Swiss technology group specializing in digital security solutions.
Here, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai shared about future cooperation plans, welcoming the group's projects in the field of developing digital management solutions./.
